American Idol in New Orleans. Ah, sounds like fun to me. Aren’t people down there a little bit on the whacky side? But, of course, in the GOOD way. I’ve always wanted to go there, someone get me a ticket. Well, speaking of tickets, it was time the judges gave out those epic golden tickets to Hollywood. Here is my recap of 1-20-11 American Idol, and all its glory… or mardi gras beads.
Jordan Dorsey | I figured I would like this guy even before he sang. Just because he was calm and cool. He was what I think of, when I think New Orleans. Well, he did a cool, jazzy version of “Somewhere The Rainbow”. And even spiced it up a bit. He gave J-Lo goose bumps, which is a good thing. And he got the ticket to Hollywood. I really liked this dude. I hope to see more of him.
Sarah Sellers | When I first saw her, she kind of scared me. Something about her was off. But, nonetheless, she had a cool voice. And not to mention she is a food and music blogger. Which, makes me think she’s WAY cooler. The judges liked her performance of “To Make You Feel My Love” and Steven loved her fish lips, so she got the ticket to Hollywood. However, I don’t think she’ll make it long, she is too boring.
Jovany Barreto | Mr. J-Lo Obsessed. What did this guy do? Build spaceships? I forget. Either way he looked like he should have been from the Jersey auditions. He sang something Spanish which was weird. But made you remember him. I think he did that to prove to J-Lo she wanted him secretly. The guys he works with said that they didn’t think he would take his shirt off in front of J-Lo. So, he had to ruin a civilized moment…and do it. BUT, Steven and Randy joined the party. EW! All of them needed to keep their clothes on.
Jacquelyn Dupree | This girl brought in photos for Randy. Photos of him a few years younger and a few pounds lighter. Only because her Dad was Randy’s Football coach. Now all Randy plays is FOODball. Bahah. The girl had a good voice, but nothing spectacular. I doubt we’ll be seeing her again. If it wasn’t for those photos and a good ol’ reunion, I doubt she would have made it.
Brett Lowenstern | AKA, The Epic Ginger. This skinny, pale, big haired 16 year old dude was weird, but cool. He had a semi-sob-story. Because well, he’s gotten picked on a lot all his life. Yeah, story of EVERY Gingers life. And basically ever teenager. But, anyway. He sang “Bohemian Rhapsody” and actually had a really good voice. The judges liked him, and he got a ticket to Hollywood. WHEW! I hope he makes it further.
Gabriel Franks | This lovely fellow was under the impression America was going to fall in love with him. As soon as he said that, I had nothing but hatred for him. Damn! Mission, not accomplished. But, with him looking so much like Steven, I thought he might be the EPIC rocker we have all been dying to see. HA HA! Not. He sang “Bad Romance” and it was pretty bad. Steven appreciated how much he looked like Mick Jagger… but that was it. Needless to say, he didn’t get the ticket. And was it just me or was his adam’s apple in the wrong place?
Alex Attardo | Haha, check this out. Alex here, attended the Idol Camp when he was 15. Um… I didn’t know this even existed? Well, I won’t be going to Idol Camp, because my voice might get as horrible as his. What do they do at the camp? AHHH! Randy said it right, “We should cancel the camp.” HA! The dude didn’t make it, thank god. And I think he should go to another camp. Like, Camp Failure.
Jacee Badeaux | A 15 year old who makes David Archuleta look like a senior citizen, did some Otis Redding. I wasn’t quite sure how he would do, but the kid did good. He actually had a pretty voice. He reminded me of the Biebs. Only, a chubbier version. I kind of want to know what Simon would have said to this kid. AHHH!
Paris Tassin | Sob story! But this one actually kind of hit me. This lady has a daughter with Hydrocephalus and hearing issues. She seemed like a really nice lady. And she had a good voice when singing “Temporary Home”… I bet we see allot more of her. And J-Lo even cried when she sang. Aw! She got a ticket to Hollywood.
Well, 37 made it through. I guess that’s pretty good. There wasn’t as much talent there as I thought there would be. Oh well. Next week we’re going to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. W00t.
J-Lo seemed a bit braver this time around saying “no” – perhaps she stopped caring so much. YAY! Steven was crazy, and saying things that got beeped (always cool)… And even Randy showed off his tubby tummy. Did you see that thing? It did “the wave”.

Camp Failure, lol. I want to go there! Camp Failure, we hold you in our hearts, and when we think about you, it makes me wanna fart! Sorry, any time I think of Camp Anything I think of Salute Your Shorts.
Also, I was thinking about this earlier. The auditions are kind of pointless because they make us sick of the people before we even hit the Top 12. Remember when Lee Dewyze made Top 12 and we were all like “Who?!?” because they didn’t even show him for the auditions OR Hollywood week, and then he won. Crazy.

Our assessments of Jacquelyn are essentially the same. But I don’t like Paris. She reminds me of Gokey, what with the “let me dredge up my family’s hardships for a golden ticket” business.

I want to go there too. But, LMAO. Salute Your Shorts is win. And also, I agree. I mean, especially the ones with sob stories. We hear about it SO much. It’s annoying.
I just think Paris seems like a nice lady. But, you do have a point. It is very… Gokeyish.

I never cared for Steven Tyler but, I have to admit, he’s a nice fit for American Idol and is actually pretty good. The talent of the contestants very a lot but a couple really stood out. I wish I had paid more attention to their names.
