Who got voted off American Idol 2011 Season 10

Tonight, the top 12 girls are taking the stage–LIVE!  (Said in Ryan’s voice)  Will it all be as epic as Seacrest makes it sound?  Probably not, but it should be a lot more fun that the weeks past!

We are eliminating four whole people this week!  Wow! Any thoughts as to who they might be? Possibly the ones who haven’t gotten any screen time yet?

Tonight, the girls are singing Billboard top hits.  Paige Miles is first, the girl we’ve seen nothing from.  She’s singing “It’s All Right Now” by Free.  She sounds good, but very nervous!  Simon thinks she has the best voice out of all the girls, but he thought it was the wrong choice of song.  Kara thought it was a brilliant song choice.  Ellen loved it.  She is very pretty!  She tells Ryan that she has been waiting to pee for five hours!  To vote for Paige, call 1-866-IDOLS-01

Commercial: Trampolining is more fun than getting pregnant. WTF?

Ashley Rodriguez is next.  She’s singing “Happy” by Leona Lewis.  I can’t tell if she’s not doing great, or if the song just sucks!  The song did not really make me “Happy”, anyway.  Kara said she hit some big notes, but she had some moments that weren’t great.  Simon thought it was clumsy, and that she was going backwards.  He no longer sees her as a contemporary artist and more of an artist who sings other people’s songs–not very well.  To vote for Ashley, call 1-866-IDOLS-02.

Arg, my keyboard is doing some weird thing where I’ll start typing a sentence, and it will randomly start throwing the words somewhere higher up in the post. How annoying!

Janell Wheeler is singing “What About Love?” by Heart.  She’s pitchy, all over the place dawg, but she’s pretty.  Randy didn’t think the song was the right choice for her.  Ellen loved the song choice.  Simon thought she gave it 100% effort but only gave it 65%.  To vote for Janell, call 1-866-IDOLS-03.

Ooh, Tyler Labine is in a new show on FOX called Sons of Tuscon.  He’s awesome, so it should be an okay show!

Lilly Scott is up next, singing “Fixing a Hole” by The Beatles.  Great song choice, and I’m digging her version!  She’s definitely the best we’ve heard so far, in my opinion.  Ellen loved it, too!  Simon said best we’ve had so far…gee, I should be a judge!  He said he’s not feeling much star power.  Kara said everyone was going to remember her.  Randy said she was a “real” indie artist.  To vote for Lilly, call 1-866-IDOLS-04.

Next is Katelyn Epperly, who is also singing a Beatles song, “Oh! Darling”.  I think she borrowed Matt Giraud’s forehead dot.  But she rocks the song!  Simon thought she screamed it in parts, but he likes her.  Kara said she could tell Katelyn has been singing a long time, but she didn’t like the makeover.  Randy thought she “can go places and do stuff”.  To vote for Katelyn, call 1-866-IDOLS-05.

Cutie pie Haeley Vaughn is sixth, and she’s doing another Beatles song, “I Wanna Hold Your Hand”.  She got her nosed pierced for making it to Hollywood week with her mom’s permission.  She was so cute, and she did her thang, dawg!  Randy thought her high notes were not quite as pleasing.  Ellen:  “You just shine, and I enjoyed it.”  Simon thought it was verging on terrible.  They tell them to rework a song and make it their own, and when they do, they get crucified for it?  WTF?  I guess it was a love/hate performance.  I loved it! Beatles songs FTW!

Up next is Lacey Brown.  She’s singing “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac.  She sounds super-nervous, or maybe she’s trying to sound like Joanna Newsom?  Either way, I can see why Megan Joy beat her last year.  Randy didn’t think it was the right song and that it was terrible.  Ellen believes she is better than that.  Simon thought it was depressing.  Kara said she should sing some Sundays or Sixpence.  To vote for Lacey, call 1-866-IDOLS-07.

Michelle Delamore is singing “Falling” by Alicia Keys.  She was good, but there wasn’t a lot of variance, and Alicia does it better (ultimately, forgettable).  Ellen thought it was fantastic.  Simon thought she sounded professional, but not as good as the original.  Kara wanted her to become more unique.  Randy wants her to take some risks.  To vote for Michelle, call 1-866-IDOLS-08.

Didi Benami is singing “The Way I Am”  by Ingrid Michaelson.  Didn’t she learn anything from that girl who sang it during her audition?  She sounded better than Ingrid, IMHO.  Simon thought she was dull and that there are too many people trying to sound like Duffy.  Kara thought she was making it her own.  Randy wants to know where the star factor is.  To me, it’s almost like she and Lacey were going for the same vibe.  Didi passed, and Lacey failed.  To vote for Didi, call 1-866-IDOLS-09.

Next is Siobhan Magnus.  She’s singing “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaac.  She has a really pretty voice, but it was a little snore-ish to me.  Kara thought she was a little nasal, but quirky.  Randy said she had a great voice but should reach for bigger song choices.  Ellen felt she was no longer watching a singing competition and was just being entertained. Crystal Bowersox is next and is singing “Hand in My Pocket” by Alanis Morissette.  She may not be much to look at, but I really like to just listen to her voice.  She has a good folk singer/singer-songwriter vibe.  Randy considers himself a fan.  Ellen thinks she adds something fresh.  Simon thinks she sounds like a thousand other subway singers, but she’s refreshing.  To vote for Crystal, call 1-866-IDOLS-11.

Finally, we have Katie Stevens.  At least if she sucks tonight, her grandmother won’t remember it!  She’s singing “Feeling Good” by Michael Buble.  She’s a very good singer for 17, but to me she’s the most similar to past contestants.  This year there’s a whole different crop of talent, and she seems quite cookie-cutter.  Ellen said she needed to be more “seventeen” and current.  Simon thought it was annoying.  Kara thought it was pitchy, dawg.  To vote for Katie, call 1-866-IDOLS-12.
