American Idol 2-20-08 Top 12 Girls Review

We saw the top 12 boys perform on American Idol last night, and now it is the first turn to see the talent andAmerican Idol Voted Off 2-21-08 performances of the idol Season 7 ladies.

First up for American idol Season 7 girls performances was Kristy Lee Cook. The 24 year of from Selma, Oregon, Kristy opened the show with “Rescue Me“. It was really flat, but Kristy Lee Cook stated she had the Flu and Bronchitis. Randy stated “It not your best performance. a bit pitchy at times. Rough around the edges”. Paula added. “we know you are sick. but you have to shine through”. Simon quipped, “Not A lot, Song didn’t suit you, the performance was robotic, even with Flu or bronchitis whatever their was nothing to grab or hold on to.” Kristy Lee Cooks opening American Idol Season 7 performance was flat and what’s with all the heavy eye make-up. We couldn’t even see her eyes. She looked like two black dots where her eyes should have been due to the heavy make-up. I am a fan Kristy, but step up the game.

The 2nd Female Idol to perform was Joanne Borgella. The 25 year old from Hoboken, New Jersey sang “Say a Little Prayer For You“. It was just ok, better than Kristy but lacking a wow factor. Judge Randy Jackson stated, ” It was pretty good. voice was shaky and unsure“. Paula Abdul added, “You need to pull it together, show confidence, I liked it, just didn’t love it“. Ultra Nasty AI Judge Simon Cowell, “ I didn’t like it at all, you have to nail it. No confidence, nothing in the vocal to make me say you are a Recording Artist. Sub Standard.”

Alaina Whitaker the 16 year old out of Tusla Oklahoma sang third. The teenage who will turn 17 tomorrow on the 2-21-08 votes off results show sang “I Love You More Today Than Yesterday“. She did a really good job. Randy thought, ” This is the year of the young contestants, It was going on”. Paula added. ” A Feel good song, You nailed it, the best ending I have ever heard.” Simon mused, “ You are very good. No nerves, I hate the song, its corny but you can make an awful song sound good, you will be great with a good song. You are sailing through to the next round.”

Up Forth was rock and roll motorcycle biker nurse Amanda Overmyer who claimed she would not sing a Janis Joplin song again. The 23 year old from Mulberry, Indiana sang a scat version of “Baby Please Don’t Go“. Randy was more impressed with her outfit especially her pants. Randy stated, ” I like your pants, and the scatting”. Paula added, “I love every minute of it. Simon claimed, ” I like you because you are unique. Did you forget the words?” in which Simon was educated on the Scatting aspect of the song, and admitted her had never heard the song before. Bonus points for Amanda, Paula and Randy on setting Simon straight. It wouldn’t be the last time Simon was outwitted and “informed” of musical attributes.

The 5th person to perform was 25 year old Model Amy Davis. Her looks were impeccable, but the voice was not. Amy Davis picked “Where the Boys Are” a Connie Francis song and was bluntly bad. It may be the last of Amy Davis in the American Idol Season 7 Competition. Randy said, ” Not great, when you scoop a note you have to nail it dead on. You were Pitchy.” Paula added, ” the camera loves you, it not the most engaging song to sing. and you appeared nervous.” Simon Cowell quipped, ” You look great but did not sound great. Boring, you have no country twang in that song and it was so very bad. Not you at all.”

Up sixth was perky, bubbly, joyful and soon to be triumphant Brooke White. Evil Simon Darth Cowell would not bring her to the dark side. Brooke White sang “Happy Together” by The Turtles.. Randy stated, “you started rough, but you worked it out, you got your slay on“. Perky Paula chirped, “You have your own thing, originality, you did a great job”. Darth Simon, said “you picked the right song” and then questioned Brooke White about always smiling and being happy. Sorry Simon not everyone is as evil and smug and unhappy as you. In Simon’s Case Money doesn’t buy happiness and it was evident all over last nights and tonight Judging Comments.

Alexandrea Lushington was up number 7 and (the Former Junior Star Search Contestant in February of 2004 along with David Archuleta the eventual JR Star Search Winner) came on to rock us out with Blood Sweat & Tears Song Spinning Wheel“. Randy said, ” You Blew the Door off of it” Paula said, ” You took control of your performance. Dope Outfit, More confidence than any other contestant, I am Proud of you, and she is Relevant.” Simon disagreed, ” I didn’t get it, it was awful, like a musical. the vocals were not that great.

18 year old Kady Malloy sang “Groovy Kind Of Love“. Randy thought, ” It was sounded Ok, strained, never belted it out“. Paula added, ” you look pretty, we love your personality, want you to have fun and want to see the real you“. Simon stated, ” I agree with Paula, it was a night of the living dead when you do you. You impersonate others fantastic, but when you do you the Lights go off. You have to lighten up. You are like a pencil…

The 9th Female of the Top 12 female Idols performing tonight on 2-20-08 was Asiah Epperson was belted out the Janis Joplin Classic, “Piece of my Heart “. Randy said, ” You did your thing, I am impressed”. Paula added “Really Good”. Simon was pleased, “My Favorite of the night, you let go, good voice, what6 it’s all about.”

Ramiele Malubay the pint sized girl with the big voice took on Dusty SpringfieldsYou Don’t Have To Say You Love Me” as the 10th performance spot. Randy Jackson said, “Very Classy“, Paula Abdul added. ” A force to be reckoned with“. American Idol Judge Simon Cowell, said, ” You out sung everyone so far!”

The 11th American Idol Top 12 Girls performance spot went to Syesha Mercado who choose to sing “Tobacco Road“. Randy said, “Big Powerful voice. Really Liked it”. Paula added “Consistent, Joyful Fun Big way to go!”. Simon added, “Not your best, You are one of the girls in the competition. Have the attitude, you try hard, you are terrific . She has the total package.”

Carly Smithson AKA Carly Hennessy Smithson was the last performer of the evening. Usually considered the PIMP spot, where they have the best go last. Carly Smithson in her interview prior to her performace, came somewhat clean on her Recording Contract past, buy acknowledging she had a record contact but the “Record Company Imploded”..Umm check your facts Missy…we all know what has been reported. I give Idol producers kudo’s for stepping up and acknowledging Robbie Carrico and Carly Smithson’s past, but Carly’s words were a bit light. I would like to cross examine your Honor….

Regadless, Carly Smithson Sang some song I have never heard before, nor for the life of me know the name of the song, or even any thing about the song. I am not Hating on Carly, She sounded Great. Just no clue as to what I was listening too, LOL. Randy Loved her. Paula Gushed over her. As to be expected, But Simon said he was “Let Down, I didn’t think it was Fantastic”.

So there you have it the first round of the top 24. 12 Boys 12 girls. tomorrow Night 2 boys and 2 girls will be voted off. We will have the results LIVE for you as they Happen. Tune in on 2-21-08 to find out who was voted off American Idol.
