In the Vegas Beatles round, she teamed up with high school buddy and former collaborator Pia Toscano.

For her Top 12 Girls performance, Karen Rodriguez chose to sing “Hero” by Mariah Carey. When asked why she chose to sing the song in English AND Spanish, she replied “I want to represent for all my Latinos out there. America is a big melting pot, it’s not only English, there are so many languages infused in this country and I just wanted to support my race….I have it in my blood, it lives inside me and I have to be who I am.”

Karen Rodriguez was one of the Myspace auditions. They auditioned on Myspace, and then went to to the in-person auditions. She had an English-language page and a Spanish-language page.
