American Idol 10: Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame – Song Predictions

Not sure if you guys have heard, but this week’s American Idol Theme is “Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame”. Whew! This should be exciting. I think this is one of my more favourite themes. They were supposedly throwing out the themes this year and letting the contestants pick what they want… but obviously that’s not happening.

So, anywho. Assuming the contestants picked from the “Songs That Shaped Rock And Roll” list of 500, here is what I think each contestant should sing or what I think they WILL sing. And just for the sake of my own sanity, I too, shall pick from this list. Otherwise I’d be looking at endless amounts of songs, as if 500 CLEARLY isn’t enough.

Haley Reinhart | “Barracuda” by Heart or “Walkin’ After Midnight” by Patsy Cline.
Come onnnnn?! How could this not be cool? I think she could seriously pull off Barracuda. And they have had a few people on Idol do Walkin’ After Midnight, but I think she could do really good on that one.

Lauren Alaina | “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper or “Papa Was A Rollin Stone” by The Temptations.

I pick these 2, because the first song is just fun… if she wants to spice things up, and obviously that song is not vocally challenging. The next one just seems like something she could make rockerish, and kick-arse.

Jacob Lusk | “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley or “Chain Of Fools” by Aretha Franklin.
The first one is a more reasonable choice. Although I do love that song, so if he were to ruin it… I would be TICKED. But, he needs something he can sing/preach. Chain Of Fools might be good for him too. I’m not really sure.

James Durbin | “Stairway To Heaven”  by Led Zeppelin or “Breaking The Law” by Judas Priest.
Yeah, no? I’m really not sure what he would do. The first one seems like something he would pick. But, not necessarily be good at. I think he would seriously do good with Breaking The Law… just because he wouldn’t have to sing, and he could run around the stage… it would just be cool!

Casey Abrams | “You Really Got Me” by The Kinks or “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” by Iron Butterfly.

I swear it would be the coolest shiz is Casey did In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. Don’t you think? He comes off as someone who could have fun with that. And I hope someone has fun this week. I thought about giving Casey some Bob Dylan or Billy Joel, but that’s more up Paul’s alley.

Paul McDonald | “After Midnight” by Eric Clapton or “Cats In The Craddle” by Harry Chapin.
I just have this sneaky suspicion that Paul is going to do some Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel kinda thing. I’m not saying it would be a good choice… but it’s just what I think he will pick. Which, he could actually do good at. But, the judges will just tell him it was too safe.

Pia Toscano | “Hey Ya!” by OutKast or “U Can’t Touch This“ by MC Hammer.
She said she wanted to spice it up. Oh, if she came out and did this, I would worship her. I’m not even kidding. Baha. Nah, in all honestly I have no idea what she would really sing. Maybe some Joy Division?

Scotty McCreery | “Folsom Prison Blues” by “Johnny Cash” or “I Walk the Line” Johnny Cash.
Yup! That’s right. I PICKED JOHNNY CASH ALL THE WAY. I think he would do really well with it. He needs to stick to what he’s good at. And he could use his deep voice and kill it. It’ll make him or break him. It won’t be any weirder than what Adam Lambert did with “Ring Of Fire”.

Stefano Langone | “Superfly” by Curtis Mayfield or “Yellow” by Coldplay.

He’s so boring. But, Superfly seems like a good choice for him. He does songs that are so lame, and cheesy. This song just screams CHEESEY! And Yellow is just boring. So, why not??

Oh how BADLY I want someone to sing Divo’s “Whip It” but that’ll never happen. The sadness. I love that song. Or maybe someone will do Bowie’s “Ziggy Stardust”. AHHH! Maybe. Who knows. Who do you want to do what? Go to the link above (Songs That Shaped Rock And Roll) and list what you want the contestants to do and leave it as a comment in the comment section below.

OK, here are my way out thoughts on songs for the contestants. Casey – Eve of Distruction Barry McGuire or Chuck Berry Johnny B. Good. . . Haley – Big Brother (Janis Joplin) Every Little Piece of My Heart. . . James – Purple Haze by Hendrix or Light My Fire The Doors. . . Paul – Like a Rolling Stone Dylan. . . Lauren – I Fall to Pieces by Patsy Cline. . . Scotty – Johnny Cash was a good choice, but how about Chantilly Lace The Big Bopper or Ain’t That a Shame Fats Domino. That’s enough to swallow for now, sorry. Pia, Jacob and Stefano are on their own.
