Short Interview with a Friend of American Idol 2011 Casey Abrams

I recently had the opportunity to interview one of Casey Abrams’s childhood friends, Andy de Marco. Andy currently lives in Spain and is studying to be a chef. Andy was nice enough to share a couple of pieces of information about Casey Abrams, and he’s provided some pictures of the the two when they were growing up.

I asked Andy if he was excited for his old friend Casey Abrams and if he thought Casey would win. I also asked if Andy had gotten to talk to Casey since he’s been in the competition. He said:

“I’m extremely excited…I really hope he wins because he’s been waiting for this day pretty much all of the years I’ve known him. I spoke to him the other day and we had a very nice conversation.”

Andy is also a musician, a drummer who likes rock, metal, and some grunge. He told me about how he and Casey first became friends:

“The way Casey and I became friends was kind of weird. When we were in first grade we were playing with rocks. When we were done he hit my head with a rock (but we were so young so I forgave him). I had about 7 stitches on my head. When he came to my house to apologize I told him were were playing…I was playing my SuperNintendo then I invited him to play too.”
