Tonight, we’re finally out of the audition room and off to Hollywood! Join us as they start rounding up contestants and ship them out this February 10, 2011 edition of American Idol 10: Hollywood Week! Please feel free to chime in below in the comments section.

Tonight after Idol, my local news channel is interviewing Lauren Alaina, the 15-year-old girl who closed the Nashville auditions show and really blew the judges away. But, if she’s interviewing in Chattanooga, does that mean she’s off Idol? I’ve never quite figured out the timeline. Any thoughts? If that news channel posts the video of this, I’ll put it up here later tonight or tomorrow.

They say every year that it’s the “most talented Idol contestants ever”, and this year is no exception. Hey producers, remember last year? Who won again? The judges are ready to crush some dreams. Redhead teen Brett Loewenstern is singing first. Yeah, like he’s going home. The kids are asked to line up in groups of 10, then they sing a little, then without giving them feedback, then they start kicking them out the door!

Rachel Zevita, Thia Megia, Casey Abrams, and Victoria Huggins, we get brief “remember them?” moments. This is kind of weird to recap live…they’re all over the place, kind of like Victoria’s voice. Casey is still screamy, I don’t know what their deal is with them. Hey, Victoria just got cut! See ya on the next macaroni box, kid.

The judges are cutting people left and right. James Durbin and Paris Tassin are back for a little more face time. Paris sounds a ton like Celine Dion on “My Heart will go On”. James sings “Oh! Darling’, and he sounds like Adam Lambert.

Next are Stormi the beauty queen and Lauren, who I mentioned earlier. Stormi was truly terrible. Lauren was good, I can’t believe she’s only 15.

James, Lauren, and Paris, all make it from this group. Stormi is out. Shocker!

Next is Chris Medina, the only sob story that actually made me cry. His singing’s pretty off, but they’re not going to let him go home. He’s pretty much the only person in his group who makes it, or that’s how they make it look.

Day 1 is over, and people are getting nervous, and Steven is getting impatient. Jacee Badeaux, aka Chubby Bieber, is awesome, Robbie Rosen shines, and they’re through to the next round. Hollie Cavanagh was pretty good as well…wasn’t she the one I said was awful in auditions? Steve Beghun, the singing accountant, wasn’t so lucky.

Sidenote: Next week is Bieber week on Glee! Just in time for the new movie, how convenient! :)

Time for some forgotten lyrics, cracking voices, and overall “how did they get to Hollywood?!” moments.

Next are the two from “Can You Duet?”, Rob and Chelsea. They haven’t gotten back together. There’s still a lot of tension between them. They both had mediocre auditions, but they’re both through. The other couple, the lovebirds, are also up. Nick is not so good. Jacqueline was not much better. Still, one of them is going home! OMG how will they ever live and be apart??? A long break, and we’re really supposed to be in suspense about which of these two is going home. I’m guessing Nick. I was right. Don’t feel bad Nick, Jacqueline won’t be far behind you. Oh geez, I hate when people beg on the stage. Begging doesn’t help you. And now he’s singing his way out. Wow.

Scotty McCreery decides to sing the same song as his initial audition…that’s because that’s the only song that fits his voice. Jackie Wilson and Jerome Bell also decided to go with this risky move. It worked for all of them! Now they have to learn some new material. Up next are the Star Bra girl from New Jersey and the incredibly adorable kid with a twin that was briefly homeless. “We won’t believe what happens next,” as Ryan says…does that mean Star Bra is moving forward and Homeless Kid is going back to the shelter?

Star Bra, Tiffany Rios, is tired of people “trying to do what she knows she can”. She shouted a lot for this audition. Homeless Boy, Travis Orlando, was okay, but didn’t blow me away. But he has such a nice tone! Oh my gosh, I was right! Homeless Boy is out and Star Bra is in! Okay, so this is going to be the “best Idol ever”…with a girl who teases her hair and wears jujubes on her oohoohbees. Riiiiiiggghhht.

Okay guys, what did y’all think of this week’s episode?

  • 16 Seth // Feb 10, 2011 at 10:02 pm

hey hey Idol Mania blog what’s up. What did I miss?

  • 17 Jebbica // Feb 10, 2011 at 11:09 pm

    Not too much, Seth!

Local interview with Lauren Alaina Suddeth: She auditioned for Chattanooga Idol last year but did not even make the Top 5. She works at Cici’s Pizza. People recognize her when she goes out to eat now, which is annoying, but she loves it anyway. She wants your votes. That was pretty much it!

So, X Factor comes on in the Fall. Are we going to move on over and do that one so we’ll be doing talent shows almost year-round? I’m hoping X Factor is better than Idol. I like the judges this year, but I really haven’t been impressed with the talent. America doesn’t need stories to connect with someone, let’s just hear some singing!

    Love, love, love Jacee Badeaux
