American Idol Winners Always Fail

So, as we all know, American Idol is going to be starting back up again. Some of you guys are totally excited, while the rest of you aren’t probably going to watch. Whether you watch or not, it’s going to be on, and there will be SOMEONE who wins, and SOMEONE we will have to be seeing over and over on TV.

Over the years, we have had really crappy winners. I mean, admit it. Other than Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood and MAYBE David Cook…. The rest have sucked. Maybe it’s the Winners “Curse” that causes them to never make it. I’m not sure. But none of them really seem to do anything.

Aside from the obvious great idol winners…who do we have?

Ruben Studdard: Season 2 Winner.
Now, this was WAY back in 2003 when he won, and I don’t remember even watching Idol then… but what happened to him? I hate to say it, but runner up Clay Aiken is the one that got more popularity. As most of you know. I think the most we have heard about Ruben was when he couldn’t go on tour because he was too overweight and having heart complications. This was the first of MANY failures to win Idol.

Fantasia Barrino: Season 3 Winner.
She has a good voice, obviously. She sang the old, gospel type stuff. And since I’m not into that type of music, I never heard any stuff she did. But, apparently she did quite well in that genre. However, not THAT great. And after this last news story of her attempting to commit suicide and a possible sex tape, I would bet her career is pretty much done. You know who she competed with? Jennifer Hudson. Ahh, yes. We all know that name. Now she has done some amazing things, not to mention she looks amazing now.

Taylor Hicks: Season 5 Winner.
Remember this guy? The young dude who looked old… and the one who every time he sang, looked like he was constipated? Yeah. That guy. Did he even release an album? I honestly, don’t remember hearing about him AT ALL after he won. Maybe he was on Ellen, that’s about it. We can all agree this was a fail for Idol. BUT, this was the season that allot of good talent to come out of idol also. Like, Chris Daughtry, Kellie Pickler, Katharine McPhee… so I guess that makes up for the winner.

Jordin Sparks: Season 6 Winner.
She was the youngest to win Idol. And she was cute. But, I don’t remember much about her. I know the runner up to her was Blake Lewis, which (I hate to admit) I absolutely adored. BUT, neither of them made it. I think I recall hearing a song that Jordin did, about a Tattoo being on her heart (ouch), being on the radio. That’s it. Meh, and NO talent came out of that year. Arg!

Kris Allen: Season 8 Winner.
Okay. I will admit, Kris Allen isn’t the biggest fail to come out of Idol. But, when you compare him to the runner up… he hasn’t done much. A couple of his song have been on the radio, and they’re really catchy. I found myself liking the rhythm. That was about it. Aside from him, there was a couple good people that came from this particular year. Like, Adam Lambert, who soon became the love of my life after seeing him audition. I didn’t/don’t care that he is gay. I love him. Nuff said. Danny Gokey didn’t do much or, so I thought. But, out of nowhere, he gets nominated for a CMA this year. Like, WHOA. Like I said, this wasn’t Idol worst winner, but still, it should have been Adam.

Lee DeWyze: Season 8 Winner.

Ahh, Lee. That dude with the Saliva Strings when he would sing. Now, I liked Lee, don’t get me wrong. But, so far, he hasn’t gotten anywhere. As a matter of fact, runner up Crystal Bowersox has sold more records. But, if I didn’t follow Lee on Twitter, I can’t say I would remember who he is. Did anything good come out of Season 8? Or do you think it’s still too soon to tell?

Basically, what I’m getting at… is this year, all of us Idol peeps and voters need to pick someone who is the bomb freakin’ digity. Maybe all these people were, but they didn’t do anything with their new fame. Who knows. But we need an EPIC winner.

Will you be watching this year? And who do you think, by far, was the worst Idol Winner? Because as you may have noticed, I didn’t include Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood or David Cook, because they have all done well.

Of almost All the AI Contestants, most did not develop into hit selling artists. There have been 4 or maybe 5 AI Success stories – Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson & maybe Clay Aiken (nothing recently). Everyone else has been disappointing. Already in Season 1, “The Voice” has better singers and is a much better and more talented show without all the cheesy Pomp & Circumstance of AI. The Judges are much better at praise and constructive criticism on “The Voice” than J’ Lo, Tyler & Dog Jackson are on AI. AI is going to get it’s _ss kicked by the Voice and the singers will probably go further than most of the average talent on AI
