Hey, everyone! Sorry I was MIA last week; it seems there was some issue about The Boyfriend being in the hospital for a week? Or something. Anyway, whatever it was, it had to be pretty big to get me away from this site! Hopefully the lovely Liz was a great companion.
Okay, so it’s Shania Twain week, and John Park is crying into his cardboard box right now that he didn’t get to stick around. Meanwhile, Tim Urban is hanging out in the If I Can Dream House with shoulda-won former Idol Alex Lambert. Pretty cool video. And we’re left with six less-than-entertaining (except Siobhan) contestants. Will they rock this countrified week? Let’s find out together!
According to the song spoilers, no one is singing “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?”. WTF?
How awesome would it have been if Casey had sang, “Man, I Feel Like a Woman”? Just sayin’.
Lee Dewyze is singing “You’re Still the One”. It’s a very Chad Kroeger-sings-Shania interpretation for me. He still makes some weird facial expressions. But the fact that he’s a paint salesman makes him remind me of that guy from Reaper. And I like that guy. So I guess Lee isn’t all bad. Randy said he did a good job. Ellen commended him for making it his own. Kara said…I dunno. Her shiny neck-thing was distracting me. Simon thought it was absolutely the perfect song choice. He also thought Lee had some weird facial expressions.
Mike Lynch is singing “It Only Hurts When I Breathe”. It comes off as not a country song at all, so I think it’s a good choice for him. Still very sleepy, though. Ellen thought it was beautiful and comparable to Luther Vandross. Kara said he really peed on it, or something. Simon thought it was “wet”, like a musical, acting out the words. And wet is the opposite of dry. He also thought it was girly.
Casey James looks like a giant next to Ryan. He is singing “Don’t”. He is also focusing more on his “shinging” and less on his guitar-playing. It’s a lesser-known Shania song, and he’s keeping his shinging to a minimum, but he is really not a very good singer. Maybe the judges will finally realize this tonight. But he’s still hot. Randy thought it was one of the best Casey James performances. Ellen thought it was his best performance. Kara said something about him being raw. She is such a perv. Simon also really loved it. He could “feel” him. Okay, the whole panel is pervy. Then Casey started making out with Shania. This is a weird show.
Crystal Bowersox is singing my favorite Shania song, “No One Needs to Know Right Now”. This might be the worst Crystal performance I’ve heard. It won’t hurt her, but not her best. Randy liked the Nickelcreek vibe she had going on. Really? Because I love Nickelcreek and I didn’t think of that at all. Ellen and Kara thought it wasn’t her best performance, to which she mouthed off in reply. Simon hated it.
Aaron Kelly is singing “It’s In the Way You Love Me”. He should technically be the one who rocks country week. But, he’s not so much. He had some hits and misses. Randy loved it. Ellen loved it. Kara loved it. Simon loved it. Simon thought it was sincere. He apparently changed the line “it’s in the way we make love” to make it work as a song to his mom. What he changed it to, I don’t know.
Siobhan Magnus is closing the show with “Any Man of Mine”. That is a fun song to sing at karaoke! Okay, I love Siobhan, but the whole song was kind of weak until her killer ending. Randy loved it, loved it, loved it. Ellen thought it was a great way to end the show. Kara said SIOBHAN IS BACK! Simon admitting to loving that song, though it was like she was giving birth at the end. He said it was fun. Go Siobhan!

At least the songs only seem to last like 45 seconds, being country and all. And yes Sheryl no clue why only one artist.. They have done Michael Jackson before and individual bands, so it’s not that much of a stretch.
However each song has to be “pre-paid for and accepted by the writers, artists, producers etc” of the SONGs before they can appear on IDOL. So I guess there acceptance from other artists allowing IDOL using their songs isn’t as good this year.

At this point with only 6 left, I don’t see the Judges outright trashing anyone with their comments. he harshest they might be will be “it was’t my favorite but you sang it well”…
So as soon as I say this, you can expect Simon to go against my years of IDOL watching experience, and make my comment null and void.. LOL

I know they did a Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber night – which was great! David Cook sung Music of the night. But there is heaps more other musicals, just as good as Andrew’s. I guess it’s like whoever has an album coming out? what about a P!nk night?

With lines like that and the prior on mentioned you got to love Glee. The singing is good and they have a great song collection…AC/DC the other night as well as more modern.. they do a great job in writing and producing GLEE… those producers need to show IDOL producers how to DO IT..
