So, tonight, the final three Idol dudes are going back to their hometowns, as well as doing two performances tonight: one song picked by the judges, and another picked by the contestants.  I’ve sneaked a peek at their song choices, and it looks like it will be an interesting night! Guess we’ll find out together, ehh?

Tonight marks American Idol’s 300th episode.  Looks like Danny’s sporting a little stubble, and Adam is wearing…an acid wash denim jacket??

Danny is up first, singing “Dance Little Sister” by Terrance Trent D’Arby.  It sounds very Gokemeister-ish, but with more scat singing!  Randy: “Let the games begin!”  Kara: “The dancing was a little too gyrating for me.” Paula: “I thought you did a fantastic job.” Simon:  “The dancing was a bit desperate; vocally, very very good.”

Kris Allen is next, singing “Apologize” by One Republic.  Kris is at the piano, sounds great, but not really too off-kilter from the original.  Randy:  “This song shows us who you could be in the future; very nice.”  Kara:  “I wish you had made it more your own.”  Paula:  “There was a bum note, but you are worthy of being in the top two.”  Simon:  “It was a competent version of the original, but not quite as good.”

Simon has chosen “One” by U2 for Adam.  Hmm, really digging the song choice!  His voice sounds so pretty when he’s not screeching, but again, it sounds like what Cher would sound like singing this song!  And, I’m sorry ladies (and dudes), but he ain’t no Bono!  Randy:  “You’re in the zone, the vocals were a little off-key, but really really good.”  Kara: “Un-believable.”  Paula:  “It was one brilliant song, one brilliant performance, and one American Idol.” Simon: “brilliant song choice, brilliant performance.  If you’re not in the finals next week, it will be the biggest upset in this competition.”

Next are the contestants’ picks.  Danny’s first, singing “You Are So Beautiful” by Joe Cocker.   Wow, he quit straining!  It actually sounds really pret–oh wait, there’s the growling.  Oh well, it sounded really great on the first verse and ended well.  Go Gokey!  Randy:  “You can really, really, REALLY sing!”  Kara: “That was stunning!”  Paula:  “You nailed it!”  Simon:  “I would call that a vocal master class.”

Kris is singing “Heartless” by Kanye West.  That takes cojones.  Wow, that sounds great!  Though, I really liked Ted’s version of “Hey Ya” on Scrubs better.  Did anyone see that?  It was so awesome.  Randy: “I liked that better than The Fray’s version, better than Kanye’s version!”  Kara:  “Perfect!”  Paula:  “Bravo”  Simon:  “I had written you out of this competition, but that has all changed after this performance.”

Adam is singing “Cryin” by Aerosmith.  To be honest, my ears were cryin for it to end!  Randy: “this is a good choice because you’re a rock star”  Kara: “See ya at the finals”.  Paula: “You’ve set the bar so high, I hope you’re collecting frequent flyer miles”.  Simon:  “You deserve to be in the finals based on talent.”

Hmm, who’s the winner tonight for me?  Those people who remade Toto’s “Africa” for the Carrie Underwood segment, that’s who! Seriously, can someone find out who does that?  But Idol-wise, it was all about Kris for me tonight.  “Heartless” was “fearless” in my book.

What did you guys think; who will be in the finals?

“His voice sounds so pretty when he’s not screeching”

I said pretty much the same thing to a friend earlier. But Kris is still my favorite of the remaining three. I LOVED his version of Heartless.

I still miss Allison though. :(

I actually thought Kris did the best tonight and it will be hard to see him go when it’s Adam and Danny in the finals.

But you never know, it’s IDOL and we could see old Adam or even Danny fall by the way side in this season’s biggest conspiracy theory ever.. hush hush. Don’t want to let the cat out of the bag just yet… Stay Tuned Though…. I am just saying….

    NOT IMPRESSED!!!!!

The judge’s choices for them were weird; the choices for themselves were weird. It was just all around weird. O_O!

I did not like Adam at all. Although I voted because I REALLY do not want Kris or Danny to win.

Danny was kind of making me feel emo, I was having suicidal thoughts. Kris killed one of the songs I like which is heartless of him to do. Lolz! For all I care they can all go home at this point.

    Allison should have stayed, really!

Danny was the best as far as singing. Kris is the best musician. I can only pray it’s a shocker and Adam goes home! We’ll see.
