Final Five Idols Results Show 4-29-09

Tonight another Idol hopeful will be going home, but who will it be?  I think the obvious pick is Matt, but Allison or Kris could also be in trouble tonight. Also, emerging from obscurity is past winner and Danny Gokey-soundalike Taylor Hicks; who’s excited? No one? Really? Okay, well, hang around anyway, cause we’re live-blogging the results!

Are the Idols and Ford hipsters now?  Last week they sang Lykke Li, and this week, they’re singing “Energy” by Athens GA band Apples in Stereo for their promo.  Please stop killing songs I actually like!

Next up is their little Rat Pack group medley.  I can’t tell if they’re lip-synching tonight or not, but they don’t sound bad!

Results time, and Matt’s up first.  (side note: whoa: Paula is wearing one heck of a push-up bra tonight!)  He’s asked to stand to the right of the stage, but we don’t know what that means yet.  The Gokemeister’s got another new pair of glasses, and he’s asked to stand to the left of the stage.  Allison joins Danny on the left.  Kris joins Matt.  Adam picks Danny and Allison, but Ryan says, no, join Matt and Kris, and they will make up the bottom three!  Okay, so let’s pick our jaws up off the ground and recap:

Bottom Three:  Kris, Matt, and Adam

And yes, I’m just as surprised as you, but I was kind of secretly satisfied, since he thought he belonged in the “better” group.  Hahaha, Flambert, get your butt to the hot seats.  Oh yeah, didn’t I like him last night? Still. He is someone who will burn hot and bright, and then burn out.

Natalie “I have Hepatitis” Cole is performing, and despite the striking family resemblance, she is no Nat King!  However, she sounds miles better than the other oldies they’ve been bringing out for Results Night.  I like girls with jazzy voices; you know who would have been awesome this week? Megan Joy.  She might have still been here if she had sung “1234″ by Feist on iTunes night, you think?  I digress.

I’m starting to get worried for Kris.  Matt is the obvious choice, but you know how Idol likes to shock people to keep the ratings up!  Oh, they let Taylor out of his cage and he’s singing.  He’s the first Idol alum I’ve heard in weeks who’s on key!  And he seems totally likable, which I seem to remember from the few episodes of Season 5. But would I buy his album?  I’m still thinking not.  He reminds me of a guy singing on the street who’s totally awesome, but once he gets a haircut and a snazzy suit, that street charm is gone.  Does anyone know what I mean?

Back to more teasing from Ryan, who’s gonna send someone back to safety.  Haha, guess who it is! Not Adam, it’s Kris!

Bottom Two:  Matt and Adam

Jamie Foxx is gonna show you how real artists make it in the biz…with AutoTune!  Even so, “Blame It” is kinda catchy.  But I wonder if rappers know that AutoTune has already been done and was popular in the 90s by techno people like Eiffel 65 and Daft Punk.  Or do they think that they made it up?

Finally, it’s results time! And the server here is already crashing, so bear with us!  Guess what, big surprise, Matt is going home.  Guess they used that judges’ save for nothing, ehh?  Oh well, that was kind of interesting how we were actually surprised this week. Now the only person who’s never been the Bottom Three is The Gokemeister.  Now there’s something to smirk about!

What did you think about tonight’s episode?

i am shocked to here adam is in the bottom two shocker.

  • 2 Shaaz // Apr 29, 2009 at 10:28 pm

I think adam thinks he’s too good and needed a reality check, i dont like adam much though i loved his born to be wild performance, he needs to learn it doesnt work for every song …….

  • 3 heather // Apr 29, 2009 at 10:33 pm

I’m not shocked to see adam in the bottom two. He can sing and he is marketable but he is way to theratrical for me. I really believe that allison has the most potential out of all of them. I like danny too but my vote will always go to my girl

  • 4 Liz Garcia // Apr 29, 2009 at 11:44 pm

I have been an avid fan of Idol even when the person I want to win sometimes doesn’t (Last Year, David Archuleta and the year before, Blake Lewis) and though I vow every year never to watch again, I do… I love Simon Cowell, can’t stand Paula and her random, off the wall comments but anyway, people watch for a reason right? This season I really like Danny Gokey, his story and his voice, I also like Allison, she’s cool and it’s about time there’s a Latina in the top 4 now… Adam Lambert is good, I just can’t stand his high pitched voice, I mean it works with certain songs but I have come to expect the same rendition every single week. Oh before I forget crooked mouth Kris! WTF!!!! I don’t think he should have made it this far, Matt has definitely more of a voice, but I can’t say much if I don’t vote now can I???

  • 5 Serenity // Apr 29, 2009 at 11:54 pm

Oh my gosh! Seriously?! ADAM WAS IN THE BOTTOM TWO?!

What is America coming to?! If Adam gets voted off, it’ll be an even worse mistake than letting Taylor Hicks beat Eliot Yamin, Katherine McPhee AND Chris Daughtry!

NO WAY! This is ridiculous! America! Get it together! Adam is the best contestant by a MILE! He’s also the only contestant I’ve ever seen who turned and pointed to the band after being complimented by the judges, saying that Ricky Minor and the band was awesome. This is crazy!

I LOVE Danny and Allison too, and I have from their auditions. I just know that Adam is better. They’re all amazing. Adam is just the best.

Honestly, Adam should make it to the finals. If he does, then I’m fine either way. He deserves to win, but I’ve heard that people do better without the AI contracts….

What I’m saying is, Adam should NOT have been in the bottom two! Definitely the biggest shocker this season! This is why the judges should have kept their save! Adam and Allison, two great singers, have now been in the bottom three when they didn’t deserve it.

  • 8 ShannenMarie // Apr 30, 2009 at 12:19 am

I am SOOOOO glad Adam is in the bottom 2!! He deserves to go home, I would never ever buy his CD and if he actually wins this…it shows that whoever is voting obviously has NO IDEA what a talented singer sounds like. Half the time it sounds like he’s whining. It also really pisses me off that he acts like he’s already won. PLEASE!! There is seriously something wrong with a guy who wears Vnecks….can you say….FRUITY!!!LOL

  • 9 Jasonfromaustralia // Apr 30, 2009 at 12:39 am

Not suprised at Matt and Kris and if I had to pick out of Danny, Al and Adam for the other spot based on last night I would have said Adam. I have loved Adam for ages, but for me it seems he peaked way to early and his style is the same for every song. I have to admit I am now a little tired of hearing every scream and high note in every song. Go Alison and Danny!!!!

  • 10 Michael // Apr 30, 2009 at 1:01 am

Adam did act like he’s winning this on Tuesday. He didn’t even give a **** to all the the shoutings from the crowd! So arrogant! Hope he’s got his lesson. And I’ll be glad if he goes home soon.

Go to Broadway, people will like your tongue out while hitting those crazy notes~~ We just need a girl to hit notes like that in record industry.

Tonight’s results were pretty good. Most exciting one they have probably had yet. I was watching on ustream, so I got it live. w00t

Anyways, I was not really shocked that Adam was in the bottom three. You know it was going to happen… it does every year, someone “Good and the Fave” always ends up in the bottom at least once. I was just uber glad it was not Allison in the bottom three this time, she has been there enough.

She should win because she could actually do someone.

Danny – Would not buy his music
Kris – Would not buy his music
    Allison Would buy her music
Adam – Would buy a poster so I could look at em…

Adam needed to be in the bottom anyways, it was good for him to crap himself.

MATT and MARTY (wart) – I knew they would go home. I think he got voted for last week, because he got the save and all.

What was up with Taylor Hicks? Soul Patrol my arse… O_O!!!

Blame it on the A-A-A-A-Alcohol. Good song… kinda

    Cait

What is this world coming to? If he were in Europe or Asia, Adam would be on top — but as usual America has no idea of talent — just look at the current music where EVERYONE SOUNDS THE SAME!!!!!! What happened to originality? And someone who finally has vocal diversity (America needs to see/hear all his performances on YouTube) and can be theatrical is in the bottom 2!!!!!

Remember The Who, The Stones, David Bowie, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Jethro Tull, Elton John, Billy Joel, Meat Loaf, Celine Dion, Garth Brooks, Queen, just to name a few — have remained great not only for there originality and musicianship but also their theatrics!!!

WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!! The only cons0lation I have is that even though Adam may not become the 8th American Idol, this has given him the exposure to solidify a spectacular future. Can’t wait to see his career take off globally. Bravo !!!!!

  • 14 Tammy // Apr 30, 2009 at 2:05 am

Adam is the best singer in the competition!!!!!!!!! I hope he takes it all the way. He will be my vote to the end. He is original and a great singer. We havent seen someone like him in a long time. I am so tired of seeing the same “type” of singers who win American Idol. He brings it every week, and there is nothing wrong with him being confident!!!!!!!!!!! For those of you who have comments of his personal life keep your negative comments to yourselves. Dont be RUDE!!!!!!!!

  • 15 Shirley // Apr 30, 2009 at 6:11 am

You got to be kidding! Adam deserves to win. He’s the Best by a Mile. He’s got an awesome voice, and quite the range. He has my Vote.

  • 16 aly // Apr 30, 2009 at 7:18 am

hey, i trid to vote for adam for over an hour couldnt get through, no wonder he was on the bottom 3 ( if you bellieve it) no one can get through so obviously someone is voting for him he is the best in 8 seasons

  • 17 Paula // Apr 30, 2009 at 9:04 am

If Adam doesn’t claim the American Idol 8 title it really is a MAD WORLD!
That having been said, only Adam can blow it for himself by over-stepping on the flamboyance factor. Adam has a “bi” following and up until this week’s performance seemed to appreciated both his male and female fans and sang to both males and females – the strutting in a white suit, facial “tics” and some inflections turned off more than a few of we voting females putting him in the bottom two this week.
Be careful, Adam, you can (and should) win this.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one that doesn’t care for Adam. He just does too much screaming when he sings. I think the judges give him way too much credit, especially Simon. And why was he the only one that had this huge entrance coming down the stairs. I would like to see Kris, Danny or Allison win, they really know what singing is all about and deserve to win.

  • 20 Susan // Apr 30, 2009 at 11:29 am

I also do not like Adam. Do we really need the Stephen Tyler tongue sticking out every week–I’m getting tired of seeing his tonsils. And his arrogance turns me off.

  • 21 Rose Beaver // Apr 30, 2009 at 11:31 am

SOMETHING VERY WEIRD IS GOING ON HERE……ADAM SHOULD BE ON THE TOP. PERHAPS PRODUCERS ARE “FIXING THIS” TO KEEP THE SUSPENSE. ANYWAY, IF THE PRODUCERS FEEL ADAM SHOULD NOT WIN…HE HAS A GREAT CAREER AHEAD OF HIM…..LIKE THE PERSON WHO WROTE BEFORE ME…..NEED TO HAVE A PICTURE OF HIM TO LOOK AT……

  • 22 william // Apr 30, 2009 at 12:25 pm

someone up there mentioned that adam would be much more appreciated in europe or asia….

    that’s terribly funny.

having lived in both areas all my life, i can safely tell u that i highly doubt that!

adam would only do well in the US. singing heavy metal. whining, and yelling his vocals to hell. honestly, it is so annoying. esp. his whining. okay, his yelling too…. and i think he is a very arrogant guy. its in the details. but it is obvious. he thrives on compliments.

even if he may be creative in the way he tries to arrange his music, and even if his theatrical composure and attitude add to his star quality, his talent is only marginal compared to the rest. kris has an okay voice. he can be trained. but his selection of music, and the way he puts it together makes me think…. thats a guy who deserves it.

but for me, it is about voice. and nothing compares to dany. he has that rod stewart element in him. i hope he gets good coaching. would love to hear good music for this kid.

  • 23 Kelli // Apr 30, 2009 at 12:26 pm

This year is a disaster there is little to no talent at all, you can go to any karaoke bar nad here better any day. Danny is pkaying like he is on big brother stop feeling sorry for him. Allison plain stinks I dont know if america has a wax build up or what ! Adan yes, is theatricak but miles above the field. People assume he is safe stop complaining and vote…The best was voted off first…. This season is a big joke.. A singing competition not ! I think you should not see them, they should be behind a screen and voted on by talent not appearance………………

  • 24 william // Apr 30, 2009 at 12:38 pm

kelli, seriously? dany has a bad voice.

dont know. but when people see adam as the best, i get to think that they know nothing of what they r talking about, and are just sweetened with his look.

the dude is trained to sing. thats why he sounds good to u. but he has no great voice.

  • 25 matt rprt // Apr 30, 2009 at 12:48 pm

Matt Giraud is out doing press today in True Love and False Idols’ “Hail Mary” tee.

    http://plopculture.blogspot.com/2009/04/american-idols-matt-giraud-on-good-day.html

  • 26 Wanda // Apr 30, 2009 at 1:49 pm

Please do not bring back Kara. She only repeats what Randy says. She is way too much! Very full of herself. She is hard to look at. She takes too much time. Trying to fix something that isn’t broken is always a mistake and Idols is not broken. I’m voting Kara OFF.

  • 27 fdsf // Apr 30, 2009 at 5:17 pm

    ilove kris hes so cutee!!!

  • 28 Krissy // Apr 30, 2009 at 9:04 pm

Very shock that Adam is on the bottom but very surprize and happy ALLISON is top 2. YAY!! GO AL!!!

  • 29 Pauline S // Apr 30, 2009 at 11:54 pm

disagree with Laura R. I am from Asia. Go Danny, Kris and Allison.

  • 30 George // May 1, 2009 at 12:53 am

WHAT IS UP WITH ALL THE HATERS ON THIS FORUM . ADAM HAS A GOOD FAUSETTO AND CAN SCREAM IN TUNE WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT ADAM IS NO DIFFERENT THAN .
    1. PRINCE
    2.PHILLIP BAILEY(EARTH,WIND,& FIRE)
    3.NEYO

  • 31 peter // May 1, 2009 at 5:14 am

george, i want him NOT to scream, or whine. he does a lot of both in his singing. lose his attitude too.

comparing him to prince?!!!! wow, that shows how much music u know.

this is not “hate”…. but i agree with everyone who thinks adam is fake and does not really deserve to be in the finals.

  • 32 KAY // May 1, 2009 at 6:41 am

ADAM IS VERY DIFFERENT THAN PRINCE. I THINK IT IS FUNNY SOMEONE COMPARED HIM TO SUCH GREAT TALENT.

    THIS IS TOOOOOOOOOOOO FUNNY!

I THINK ADAM WILL WIN IDOL. BUT THATS ONLY BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MUSIC. COMPARING HIM TO PRINCE IS TOOOOO FUNNY….!

  • 33 Donna // May 1, 2009 at 2:46 pm

I am so glad to hear I’m not the only one who’s creeped out by Adam. Broadway would be a better fit for him. Can’t stand the screeching. Don’t even try to compare him to Jagger & Tyler. I think Simon got it right at the beginning, you’ll either love him or hate him, but he’s not likeable. All you lovesick girls better get over it – he doesn’t swing your way.

  • 34 Eljay // May 1, 2009 at 4:40 pm

Lately i’ve been reeeeeally feeling Kris. Not only is he talented, he’s kind of guy you’d like to take home to your mama. I think he deserves a break, and I hope he wins.

  • 35 Donna // May 1, 2009 at 7:44 pm

About Adam. Has anyone else noticed an eerie resemblence to Wayne Newton reincarnated? The first time he appeared in his non-grunge look I was struck by how much he looked like him! Can’t you see him on aVegas stage in all his glory? And for the record, my 3 favorite picks all along were Alison, Chris, & Danny. Of the 3, I can picture Alison giving a rocking concert right now! But I love all 3.

  • 36 Pauline S // May 1, 2009 at 10:31 pm

    Eljay, that’s the “package”.

  • 37 meGG // May 2, 2009 at 8:58 am

ADAM IS SO CREEPY…. and he has to be the most self absorbed person i have ever seen on idol… I mean honestly thinking he should have been in the top 2 wtf ever….. I mean he is not unique, he does nothing new, every week he does the SAME exact thing go scream and whine and make weird eye and facial gestures… it gets really old… How about actually trying to sing for once without the screaming and whining… And obviously this is not the competition for him go back to broadway!!!… And i thought it was so funny when they went and were talking about 17 again premiere and adam threw in there “i liked the cheerleaders” guess what dude we all know you are gay so stop trying to put up a fake front and face the music… he is just afraid amercia wont vote for him because he is gay but no one cares you are gay.. People just dont like your arrogant, fake attitude…. And you are not original all you do is scream every week!!!….. GO ALLISION, DANNY AND KRIS FINAL THREE!!!!!! :-)

  • 38 Tom Cat // May 2, 2009 at 9:16 am

Adam is the best talent I’ve seen on AI since the show started. This seems like a concerted effort to undermine the talent he has displayed .
I like Allison and Danny but think he is, by far, the best of the three.
As for the arrogance he is suppose to be displaying, I don’t see that either. He has confidence so don’t misconstrue that with arrogance.
I agree with everything that Laura R. said , it’s a win, win for Adam.
This year has the best talent ever on AI.

  • 39 Paula A // May 2, 2009 at 5:17 pm

I can’t believe how much Adam bashing is going on. Guys go to AI and listen to his quiet songs if you don’t like the wail. “Mad World”, “Tracks of My Tears”, and “If I can’t have you”. His voice resonates and tugs at your heart. Smokey Robinson gave him a standing ovation and so did Simon Cowell. Think back on all the memorable performances of this season and you will see they all belong to Adam Lambert. Give him another listen, I think you will like what you hear. So many of his songs get better and better the more you listen. Let this be the year that the truly gifted person with loads of talent gets to actually win.

  • 40 Janine // May 4, 2009 at 7:00 am

I am from Australia and am a MASSIVE fan of American Idol…Adam is the absolute bomb…What an artist! He is in his own league and although the remaining idols are fantastic, they are always overshadowed by Adam’s consistently incredible performances.I cant vote but I really hope America gets it right as they did last year with David Cooke!!!

  • 41 Peaches // May 4, 2009 at 8:45 pm

I think the winner will be the best entertainer and singer……….and what I’ve seen so far………..is Adam. Granted, they all 4 are good……….but he is the most entertaing and interesting. His performances are memorable and mind-blowing. His popularity has grown due to his boldness, creativity, and vocals.

  • 42 paul // May 5, 2009 at 9:32 am

the most creative is kris. really. look at how creatively he changes the music he plays. i think this kid would end up making some seriously good music. danny and alison have amazing voices. but i figure a lot of u people just enjoy a show and an act. this is why adam would be great for broadway! i agree with everyone who said that adam screams tooooooo much and whines when he is not screaming. his pitch is very annoying.

but i figure most of u people know little abotu music, and his performances are so over the top, that u r impressed. my vote is for kris.
