Recapping The American Idol Season 8 Rules Top 36

This season’s American Idol has new rules for the Hollywood Round contestants and their road to the Top 12.
The Hollywood Rounds will air:
Tuesday, Feb. 3 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT)
Wednesday, Feb. 4 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT)
Tuesday, Feb. 10 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT)
On Wednesday, Feb. 11 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT)
On 2-11-09 the American Idol Season 8 will annouce the Top 36 semifinalist contestants .
Here’s were things change from Idol Season’s Past.
The 36 will be divided into 3 groups of 12. For the next three Tuesdays on Feb. 17 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), Feb. 24 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and March 3 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) each group of 12 will sing for America’s Votes. On the Wednesday Nights following the Singing and Voting, 3 of each group of 12 based upon voting will move to the Top 12. That gives us 9 of the TOP 12 from the group of 36. Those LIVE results will be on Feb. 18 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), Feb. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) and March 4 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT)
A wild card round to pick the remaining 3 of the Season 8 Top 12 will air on Thursday, March 5 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), The episode featuring the judges favorite remaining contestants. After each of the contestants perform, the judges will select the three final contestants who will round out the Top 12.

3 Finalists Advance of that group of 12 ( 24 singers performed 6 have passed to Top 12)
Tuesday, March 3 (8:00-10:00 PM) Final 12 of Top 36 Semifinalists Perform – You Vote
Wednesday, March 4 (8:00-9:00 PM) LIVE Results Show (ET live/PT tape-delayed)
3 Finalists Advance of that group of 12 ( 36 singers performed 9 have passed to Top 12)
Thursday, March 5 (8:00-9:00 PM) Wild Card Round – Top 12 Finalists Revealed
The Final 3 Finalist are chosen by the Judges of the 24 that didn’t make the cut in the 3 groups of 12.
Tuesday, March 10 (8:00-10:00 PM) Top 12 Finalists Perform – You Vote
