Elliott Yamin, American Idol Season 5 finalist, is finally putting the finishing touches on his sophomore album, due out May 5th on Sony/ATV Music Publishing’s Hickory Records.
Two years in the making, the as-yet-untitled album follows Yamin’s 2007 self-titled debut, which was met with both sales and airplay success. Elliott Yamin is the highest independent debut by a new artist in the history of the Billboard chart – hitting #1 on the Independent Album chart, #2 on the R&B chart and #3 on the Top 200 chart, in addition to going gold in the US and Japan.
The new album will feature numerous guest appearances, co-writing by Yamin himself, and heavy-hitting producers Jermaine Dupri, the duo Stargate and Josh Abraham, among others. A single is expected in February.
“It’s been an awesome journey full of creativity, and having the time to be flexible has really helped me branch out on this record,” explained Yamin. “I can’t wait to share my music with my fans.”
