thank you so much for posting the results..i totally spaced tivoing it..totally agree with the people going home..although i would not have been sad if the “rocker nurse” went home…bad bad hair..

I picked Garrett and Amy as leaving, was not real surprised at Colton but didn’t think Joanne should have been the one to go, should have been Kristy. I have a whole formula drawn out and stuff…guess it didn’t work!

I think we sometimes forget this is American Idol, and the winner has to be able to appeal to middle America. Some of the girls do have great voices, but is their vocal style Idol material? Part of Carrie Underwoods success is her appeal to middle America. Having a great voice is important, but I can think of many middle of the road vocalists, who are successful artists.
The first girl contestant was Kristy Lee, who’s rendition was a safe choice, but effective. She did a fun upbeat version and I liked it. Might not have been A+ performance, but was a lot better than the two who were voted off tonight.
Vocally, the rocker girl Amanda was difficult to watch, let alone listen too. Get real, America’s Idol, I don’t think so, does anyone believe the millions of people who bought C. Underwoods music would buy her CD?
Brook is another one hit wonder,or should I say Taylor Hicks. Great personalities, but limited vocal skills, at least Hicks can entertain and is a blast to watch perform. Brook is boring and another deadend street.
Alexandra was great, but she could have left off her vocals towards the end.
Some of the other girls have great vocal talent, but their sound is kind of typical. None of them came off like another Beyonce, just a lot of big voices.
The country music genre is where the big bucks rules,
C. Underwood has proven that time and time again. No one else has even come close to matching her appeal.
Alaina and Christy are the only two females with any remote chance of stepping into the country world like C. Underwood did.
Bottom Line: Those two will need to step up to the plate. Should be interesting to see how Christy does next week with some bedrest. She will need to step up her game, relax, do her good old country girl stuff, and make herself memorable. Alaina needs to show some humility, or she might find herself voted off.
