American Idol Jordan Sparks

Jordin Sparks is a talented musician, and one of which we would not know of if it were not for American Idol. Although with the talent Jordin Sparks’ has it was only inevitable that she would become a walking success. Clearly Jordin Sparks knows how to sing and she won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

Biography
Jordin Brianna Sparks was born on December 22, 1989, in Phoenix, Arizona, to mother Jodi Weidmann (who is white) and father Phillippi Sparks (who is black), a former NFL defensive back. After attending Orchard Elementary School in Rodgewood, New Jersey, Jordin Sparks attended Community Christian School before going on to Sandra Day O’Connor High School. She dropped out in 2006 and was homeschooled for the remainder of high school so she could give more attention to her singing.

Jordin Sparks began taking part in various singing competitions and, in 2006, she was one of six winners in the Torrid search for the next plus-sized model. That was the year Jordin Sparks also found herself auditioning for American Idol in front of three of the toughest, most well-known judges: Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell.

While performing on Season Six of American Idol, Jordin Sparks not only gained recognition from the judges but she also gained a solid fanbase of “sparkplugs.” She was never in the bottom two or three throughout the entire show, and she won the season in May 2007.

Following her win, Jordin Sparks made appearances on Live With Regis and Kelly, The Today Show, The View, and Larry King Live, and she was featured in Entertainment Weekly, TV Guide, Glamour, and more.
Jordin Sparks releases album
In 2007, Jordin Sparks released her debut self-titled album to favorable reviews. The hit “Tattoo” went on to become a top 10 single, and “No Air” soared to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In February 2008, Jordin Sparks sang the national anthem at Super Bowl XLII. She went on to become the opening act on the Alicia Keys’ As I Am tour.
