American Idol April 15 2008 Recap Review
The Top 7 remaining American Idol contestants took the stage this evening to sing songs from the Mariah Carey Song Collection.
First to take the stage on 4-15-08 to perform a Mariah Carey song was 17 year old David Archuleta. David
A picked “When You Believe“.
American Idol Judge Randy thought, “You picked the toughest song, but if you can sing you can sing anything. That was the Bomb Baby”
Paula said, “Proud of your interpretation and power”
Simon said, ” I would have bet you picked that song, If was very very good. you set a benchmark. you performed that very well”

David Archuleta will not be voted off American Idol on 4-16-08
The 2nd of the American Idol to take on Mariah Carey Songs was Carly Smithson. Carly sang “Without
You”
Randy, “I like that you challenge yourself, the beginning wasn’t all that, It was Pitchty but Ok”
Paula, “I like how you showed vocal restraints you swelled and soared.”
Simon thought, ” I wanted you to sing this song, But I don’t think you pulled it off. You are over thinking wound up and hold yourself back. It was an OK Version.

Mariah Cary Song, “Vanishing“.Randy Said, ” You Picked the toughest song, I like your boldness, you did a good job, It was a really hard song, some Pitch problems.”Paul said, ” Smart, not get comparisons, change up voice in power and softness was pretty unbelievable and magical.”
Simon Said, ” Technically very good. But you choose a song people don’t know may be a mistake.”

Randy Said, “ I like the singer songwritter part about you. I thought it was pretty good.”
Paula said, “Evey ounce of you is authentic, this was brave , it sounded really good.”
Simon said, “I don’t think you had much of a choice in your song this week, but it was a bit like ordering a hamburger and only getting the bun. A Vital ingredient was missing, your voice was not strong enough to carry that song”

The 5th singer to perform on the Top 7 April 15, 2008 American Idol show was Kristy Lee Cook as she
took on the Mirah Cary Song, “Forever”
Randy: “I didn’t think that was like amazing … but I’ve got to tell you, you’ve definitely started stepping up.”
Paula says she is a smart girl because she is getting better every week; “Oh, my God, I’m like blown away.”
Simon says he didn’t give her chills, but “you managed with what you could. … It just wasn’t great.”

David Cook came on in the 6th spot
Randy said ” You are ready to make an album, most brave and perfect yet”
Paula said, “That could be in a movie soundtrack. you are it”
Simon said, “It was like coming out of Karaoke Hell. It was the most original, Daring, Stood out by a mile. Perfect!”

Randy, ” I didn’t really love it, was like a a beach luau and hearing music in the distance.”
Paula said, “I Loved it, confident, in that zone”
Simon Said, “Loved it, not bad vocal, a cool version.”

David Archuleta is as steady as they go! He has the truest voice of them all and, for my money, should win the competition going away. Sorry, all you David Cook fans. He is nothing special; his voice is very ordinary and he is WAAAY overrated!

Well I think David Cook is awesome. i think he will have a recording contract nonetheless. BUT I am a total sold out David Archuleta fan. He is going to win. I don’t care what anyone says. He will be our next American Idol! GO David Archuleta!
