Michael Johns Elimination from American Idol Aftermath and Video
The first real shocker of this season was the Elimination of Michael Johns on 4-10-08 of Idol Gives Back week.
NBC Today show did a story on the Idol Season 7 Shocker and compared Michael Johns ousting with that of Chris Daughtry in Season 5. For Chris Daughtry being voted off earlier in the Idol competition was a blessing. Will it be the same for Michael Johns?

I am totally shocked, but them again when you leave the decisions up to america pretty much all you are getting is the little girls voting who really don’t know what good music sounds like. AI is really getting to be a dud.Michelle Steil said:
I was literally speechless when it was announced that Michael Johns was going home. Kristi Lee Cook has once again, bizarre as it is, escaped being voted off! She should have been gone weeks ago! That girl has NO it factor and is no better than a good singer in a high school choir. If I heard her sing on the radio, I would never be able to identify who was singing, because her voice is soooooooo generic. And, although she is pretty & has a nie figure, she has no charisma, (unlike Michael Johns, who has plenty of charrrrrisma). He amazingly resembles a stockier version of INXS’ original frontman, Michael Hutchence, (who seethed with sexual charisma). Also, might I add, Michael Johns on occasion sounds, uncannily, much like Michael Hutchence). This week America most certainly got it pathetically wrong. It may not have been his best performance, but certainly did not warrant a one way ticket home!!!!!!!!DJ Said:

Michael had a great blues-y sounding voice and I LOVED whenever he would sing in that style. Or even the rock style which he did with Dream On. I don’t think it was a bad song choice…stupid show!! If it wasn’t for David Archuleta, I definitely would stop watching already. I didn’t think Michael would win it all, but I DID think he would make it to top 3.
This sucks…it’s gotta be rigged…you’ll be missed, Michael

There are a couple of girls that should have been voted off first, but it is not all about singing, it is a popularity contest based upon the people watching and voting. If you don’t like the outcome and didn’t vote, shut up. There are nights that I don’t watch it at all, it is getting boring, especially doing Beatles songs for two weeks. I get bored with Simon and Little Ryan going back and forth. Paula always looks wasted or drunk — she never makes sense. I am amazed this is such a popular show.

Warner Bros. should sign him up. He was a good performer, on state as well. I sure want to hear his music again.

I’m shocked too. But not for the reason you all may think… Michael Johns was good and he definitely should have made it farther than Syesha and Kristi but by no means does this elimination affect me much.
When there are performers like Brooke, Jason, and both Davids, Michael doesn’t even compare to them. I can’t believe people are comparing him to Daughtry. No where near that good…

A big, big shame! Shouldn’t have even been in the bottom 3! Archuleta is defintely the most popular but he’s not the best singer in the competition. Michale Johns has more range in his voice than Archuleta. Cook and Carly have better voices than Archuleta ( who can only sing slow ballad songs). Shame! Big, big shame!

i am so sickened that michael johns would be voted off. he is absolutely amazing. lrt us not forget the success of Chris Daughtry. michael…rock on dude you are the best w had this year.

I voted several times for MJ!!I don’t get it!!! Ryan and AI need to apologize to MJ for the horrible they treated him, he deserves to come back…They gave Jordin Sparks a gimme, he deserves it too. If it had been Kristy, they would of brought her back!!! Idol gives back,Idol takes Away will be know for this. I hope David C wins. I hope MJ becomes known for being the most FAMOUS IDOL!!! Shame on AI, you control the votes!!

i was definitely shocked and disappointed that Michael got voted off. However, something that disappointed me even more was when Ryan explained how they didn’t eliminate anyone the year before during Idol Gives Back…then pauses and then goes on to say that we were saying Goodbye to Michael Johns. I didn’t think that was necessary at all. Why did he have to go and say that if they were going to eliminate him???
