The Idols are singing Dolly Parton songs tonight.
Final verdict:
Best of the night: David A., David C., Michael Johns
Worst of the night: Ramiele Malubay
Overall, a lot more “middle-of-the-road” performances. No one was really terrible this week, but everyone seemed to be about as good as everyone else.
8:55 p.m.: Michael Johns is last but not least. He’s singing “It’s All Wrong, But It’s All Right.” Hopefully the same won’t hold true to his performance. Randy said it was blazing hot and Paula said he was a star, and Simon said it was the best he’d heard him sing.
8:50 p.m.: Syesha Mercado is eighth and is singing “I Will Always Love You.” I think this will be great if she doesn’t make it a carbon copy of Whitney Houston’s version. Randy said she took on the biggest song of the night and it was alright, Paula said she was growing, and Simon said it was good but paled in comparison to Whitney’s version.
8:45 p.m.: Kristy Lee Cook should have a better week this week since it’s Country Week. She’s singing “Coat of Many Colors.” Randy said that country music is definitely her “wheelhouse”, Paula said it was her best performance, and Simon said it was “pleasant but forgettable.”
8:40 p.m.: David Archuleta is sixth and is singing “Smokey Mountain Memories”, or “Appalachian Memories.” Randy said that David A. was back and it was the best performance of the night, Paula said it was amazing, and Simon said this week it was “absolutely on the money.”
8:30 p.m.: Carly Smithson is up fifth and she’s singing “Here You Come Again.” Randy said he thinks it will be one of the better performances of the night, Paula said she was beautiful and great and “oh my God!”, and Simon said it was good but not great and she needs a better stylist.
8:25 p.m.: Jason Castro is fourth and is singing “Travelin’ Thru.” Randy said it was pretty good and he worked it out, Paula said it was one of his strongest performances, and Simon said if this had been the first time he’d seen him he wouldn’t get it.
8:20 p.m.: Ramiele Malubay is third and is singing “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind.” Randy said said it was a 6.5 out of 10, Paula said she really connected with the audience, and Simon said it was cute but forgettable and very cruise ship.
8:15 p.m.: David Cook finally credited Doxology and the other people whose arrangements he borrowed, and tonight he says he did his own arrangement of “Little Sparrow.” Randy said he gave another “hot, consistent” performance, Paula said she liked his haircut, and Simon said congratulations for making a song about sparrows good.
8:05 p.m.: Brooke White is first and is singing “Jolene.” Randy said it was “just aiight,” Paula said she looked beautiful and connected with the song, and Simon said he disagreed and thought she didn’t connect whatsoever.
8:00 p.m.: Ryan Seacrest started by faking us out by saying Idol had been canceled and a celebrity edition of Moment of Truth would be airing in its place. April Fool’s!

Simon was definitely an Ass with the You should Dress Better Comment to Carly Smithson..
I thought she was the best of the night.
Loved who Ryan came to her defense and busted Simon.
It was extremely Rude, even more so then in the past…
