Will there be more forgotten words and butchering this week? Let’s hope not!
8:10 p.m.: Amanda Overmyer is first. She’s singing “Back in the U.S.S.R.” from The White Album. Randy gave it a 7 out of 10, Paula said it was sketchy but she loved Amanda, and Simon said she was predictable and gave a performance that was the same as all of her previous weeks: boring.
8:20 p.m.: Kristy Lee Cook is second. She sings “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away” from Help!. She was extremely flat and off-key throughout her whole performance. Randy said it was boring and safe, Paula said she looked pretty, which was code for she thought it was awful, and Simon thought that other than the last two seconds of her performance she was a terrible performer. Kristy retaliated by saying she would “blow Simon’s socks off.”

8:25 p.m.: David Archuleta is up third. He’s singing “The Long and Winding Road” from Let it Be. He finally earned my forgiveness for last week’s performance! This week was MUCH much better! Randy said he brought the hotness back to his game, Paula said he was wonderful, and Simon said that last week’s performance was a complete mess; this week was amazing. Agreed!

8:35 p.m.: Michael Johns is the fourth performer, and he’s singing “A Day in the Life” from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Randy said it wasn’t one of his better performances, Paula said he wasn’t as good as in his dress rehearsal, and Simon said it was a mess. It wasn’t THAT bad, was it? Parts of it were terrible, but others seemed okay….your thoughts?

8:50 p.m.: Brooke White is fifth. She sings “Here Comes the Sun,” a George Harrison song from Abbey Road. Randy said it was an awkward performance, and Simon said it was terrible. Paula thought she showed “another color other than yellow.” ???

9:00 p.m.: David Cook is the sixth performer tonight. He’s singing “Day Tripper” from Rubber Soul. Randy said it was another solid performance, Paula said he’s ready to sell records now and do “Geico commercials,” and Simon said he wasn’t as good as he thought he was and the vocoder was a stupid move.

9:10 p.m.: Carly Smithson is seventh and is singing “Blackbird.” This song is from The White Album. Randy said it was very nice and “cooliosis.” Paula loved it and said she was “capital F fantastic.” Simon thought the song was indulgent and a bad song choice.

9:20 p.m.: Jason Castro is the eighth performer tonight. He’s singing “Michelle” from Rubber Soul. He noted that he was challenged to learn new French phrases for this song. Randy said it was “just aiight,” Paula said it was a little polka and sing-song, and Simon said his face sold it…meaning he was “very charming and not obnoxious.”
9:27 p.m.: I’m so excited at this point that someone finally decided to sing “Yesterday”! I think Castro would have been the best fit for this song, but Syesha Mercado is the one to get the honor. Will she do this song justice?

9:30 p.m.: Syesha Mercado is singing ninth. She’s singing “Yesterday” from Help!. It was gorgeous. Randy said it was a very good performance, Paula said she let herself be vulnerable but she needed to connect more with her eyes, Simon said that it was probably her best performance so far.

9:40 p.m.: Chikezie Eze is tenth and is singing “I’ve Just Seen a Face” from Help!. Chikezie is playing the harmonica, something he just learned this week. Randy said it was strange but could make a good country song, Paula said she loved it, and Simon said it started off okay, then his harmonica playing was atrocious, and then it turned into “Achy Breaky Heart” and that it was “gimmicky.”

9:50 p.m.: Ramiele Malubay is last and singing “I Should Have Known Better” from A Hard Day’s Night. Randy was happy she showed her confidence, Paula said it was definitely better than last week, and Simon said it sounded “amateurish,” and that she chose a mediocre song and wasn’t able to express her range.
Jebbica’s final opinion:
There weren’t a lot of stellar performances, but thank goodness there wasn’t quite as much butchering as last week!
The Best: David Archuleta and Syesha Mercado. Jason Castro, Chikezie, and Brooke White get honorable mentions from me, just because they’re so adorable and gave decent performances.
The Worst: Kristy Lee Cook
In the Middle: Everyone else
