American Idol Season 7 Hollywood Week 4 days to Top 24
164 contestants showed up for the Hollywood Week of 4 days of competitions to widdle it down to 50 on the way to the top 24.
The American Idol Season 7 Hollywood round was conducted different from years past, in which contestants were allowed to play instruments as well as a double elimination process was established to weed through the former Golden Ticket Holders.
On day one and day two one each of the 164 auditioned in front of Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell. Those that passed with three Yes votes from the Judges got sent or bypassed into the final round of Hollywood week. Those that failed their initial audition had one more chance on Day Three to make to the Final Day of Cuts.
On Day One we saw many familiar names. Brooke White from the Philly Auditions played on the piano and sang first. Her rendition of “Beautiful” gained her 3 yes votes and the pass to the final day 4 of auditions.
Other names were not as lucky and didn’t make the first round cuts and would have to sing there way back into the judges good graces on day three. Those were Lorena Pinot, Amy Flynn, Leo Marlowe, Alisha Dixon, Michael Sanfilippo, Aylssa Coco, Andrew Barrows, Jake Mellens, Galeb Emachen.
Others that got the 3 yes votes and a pass to Day 4 were David Hernandaz, and Amanda Overmyer.
On DayTwo, 18 year old Josiah Leming who lived in his car for a year sand his way into day 4 along with other notable names such as Danny Noriega, Ramielle Malubay, Michael Lee Johns, David Cook, Robbie Carrico, Colton Berry.
Syesha Mercado got a no from the judges and would have to fight her way back on day 3.
On Day Three it was do or die, double elimination. 10 contestants we lined up all to sing about 30 seconds. The majority of those on Day 3 were cut. Amy Flynn was cut on Day 3. Angela Martin was cut on day 3. However Kristy Lee Cook and Syesha Mercado were able to sing there way back into the competition to get to day 4.
On Day Four the remaining contestants that passed on Day One and those that came back from Day 3 sang on the big stage with background singers and a band.
Here we saw many of the Notable Rumored Top 24 contestants pass though such as, David Archuleta, Syesha Mercado, Michael Lee Johns, Carly Smithson, Asiah Epperson. Also making it through but not on the rumored Top 24 list were Kyle Ensley and Josiah Leming. Brooke Helvie, Jeffery Lumpkin and Joey Catolono were cut and sent home.
Josiah Leming was the feel good story of this show as he triumphed and was able to pass through into the top 50.
So far all the Spoiler Lists seem to be on track as well as the Top 50 List and who made it through to that point.
Tomorrow night, 2-14-08 the Top 24 of American Idol Season 7 will be revealed and we can compare our Spoiled Rumored List. Til then.
