Indiana native Amanda Overmyer made a big impression at the Altanta American Idol
Auditions. The 23-year-old contestant on American Idol make it to the next level as Amanda Overmyer was heavily featured during Tuesday night’s episode on FOX, which showed the auditions from Atlanta. Amanda Overmyer got the approval of all three judges: Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, even Simon Cowell.
She caught the attention of the judges with a smoky rendition of Janis Joplin’s “Turtle Blues” and then won them over with a strong “Travelin’ Band” by Creedence Clearwater Revival after Cowell asked to hear another song.
Abdul and Jackson’s first words to Overmyer after the songs were “I love you.”
When asked if Amanda Overmyer was a “yes or no,” Jackson replied, “A trillion percent yes. I love it. I believe it. She’s the real deal.”
Amanda Overmyer, who works days as an oxygen therapy nurse for Lincare, was dubbed the “rock ‘n’ roll nurse” by Abdul.
The Paula Abdul then mentioned Amanda Overmyer is the female Chris Daughtry, a former American Idol contestant who has gone on to become a multi-platinum rock singer.
Overmyer’s segment on the show started out with the singer riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle around Greater Lafayette, Indiana.
During her interview, Amanda Overmyer said her rock style could stick out from the rest of the contestants. The American Idol cameras followed her on her job and on the road riding her Harley on the weekend “when she lets it all hang out,” she said.
Amanda Overmyer’s fiance, Casey Taylor, watched the episode and “was very pleased with her performance, and I thought she looked great.”
Along for the ride when American Idol cameras came to Indiana, Taylor enjoyed the story piece, too.
“It seemed like they enjoyed her and I hope everyone does as well,” Taylor said. “Amanda has her own style and is in her own genre.”

I do know that Amy has quit her job for Lincare! That’s a good sign that she has made it past Hollywood.
