American Idol Auditions Best and Worst of Season 7

American Idol Season 7 went to seven cities across the US in the summer of 2007 to Auditions. Over 100,000 people stood in long lines to get their chance to perform in front of Paula, Randy and Simon. In the end 164 people received Golden Hollywood Tickets.

The recap best and worst auditions shown on the American Idol 2-6-08 show started with 26 year old Luke Reeder and 18 year old Victor Villegas who were among the Worst according to the Idol producers.

Next up was rumored Top 24 Idol Amy Davis, who grew up watching her single parent mom work two jobs in order to provide for six kids. Amy Davis sang “Blue Bayou.” Amy David easily received praise from the judges and a Golden Hollywood Ticket.

Two worst, one best and time for another worst as 21 year old Tiffany McCambell claimed that she got her voice from God. Simon Cowell asked if he had a returns policy and that her gift was not the best present in the world and that she was not good.

We next were introduced to Twins Cory Lang & Chris Lane from Kernersville, North Carolina, and their girl friend Ashley Lawings. After parody from 70’s TV show “Three’s a Company” Cory & Chris Lane “twins” performed a rap about the Brittenum twins. However, unlike the Brittenum twins, these twins couldn’t sing. Simon Cowell called the audition, “very amateurish.”

Girlfriend to the Lang twins, 19 year old Ashley Lawing gave her dog to the judges. When Simon threatened to steal the dog, Ashley said that if he put her through to Hollywood that he could have whatever he wanted. However, Simon called her audition, “excruciating.” Ashley’s faith was the same as the twins and was rejected by the three Idol Judges.

Back to the Best auditions as we were introduced to 20 year old Cardin Lee McKinney. Simon Cowell said that she came over as a very theatrical singer, but he did not think she was a contemporary recording artist. However, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul disagreed and Cardin Lee McKinney received her Golden Hollywood ticket to the next round.

Next up was plus-sized model Joanne Borgella. Joanne Borgella is a reality competition veteran, having won already in 2005 Mo’Nique’s FAT Chance on the Oxygen Network. She has since appeared In Essence Magazine and been the covergirl for PLUS Size Magazine. As another rumored Top 24 Joanne Borgella sang at Madison Square Garden in the past and was impressive for the Idol Judges. Paula Abdul called Joanne, “stunning.” Even though Simon Cowell said no, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul put Joanne through to Hollywood.

The next bizarre Audition was that of 18 year old Alesha Stelzl as she sang, Simon Cowell called it an “absolutely dreadful audition.” Randy Jackson intervened told Alesha Stelzl that she should have sung a Dolly Parton song, Simon Cowell told Alesha Stelzl to go learn a Dolly Parton song and come back. For her second audition attempt, Alesha learned and sang “Islands In The Stream.” Simon Cowell decided not to be involved in the vote and left it to Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul. Randy and Paula put Alesha through to Hollywood. Simon actually admitted that Alesha Stelzl was good, after she had left the room of course.

Two more of the worst auditions were shown. 27 year old Brandi Gregorie and 17 year old Charles Randy Leviner boomed in their performance auditions

New Idol Reject and future Youtube Celebrity Reject to be was 25 year old “Jay Smoove” Joshua Moreland that sang “Beautiful Lady.” During his audition, Joshua threw rose petals, sparkles and glitter into the air. Simon Cowell said it was a “horribly over the top, corny, revolting audition.” Cowell tried to get Ryan Seacrest to clean up the mess made by Joshua “Jay Smoove Morland . But after Seacrest claimed he didn’t want to take the job away from the female Idol production assistant doing it, Cowell accused Ryan Seacrest of being patronizing. Simon Cowell actually helped clean up the mess for the cameras.

Next we were introduced to rumored Top 24 Chikezie Eze who sang a Luther Vanderous Song. This was Chikezie Eze’s 2nd year of American Idol Auditions and it appears that the 2nd time is a charm. Chikezie Eze is on to Hollywood.

The 2nd time is a Charm was also in effect for Danny Noriega another rumored Top 24 Idol as Danny Noriega’s Proud Mary was enought impress the Judges and get sent to Hollywood.

Next week is Hollywood Week and Tuesday 2-12-08 an Wednesday 2-13-08 American Idol we will get down to the real competition. This year American Idol contestants are allowed to perform with instruments. Out of 164 that went to Hollywood only 24 will survive before the American Idol show is once again Live. From 24 we get to 12 on the road towards crowing the 2008 American Idol Season 7 Winner in May, 2008.

It will be one hell of a ride.
