American Idol 2-5-08 Season 7 Atlanta Audition Review

American Idol invaded Atlanta Georgia this summer as one of the 7 audition cities for the American Idol Season 7 show. Early in Summer 2007 Idol Judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul , Simon Cowell, Idol producers and crew stumbled into Atlanta, Georgia looking for the Next American Idol Talent or the week of 2-5-08 American Idol Reject.

Knowing ahead of time, from Idol Spoilers we were on the look out for Alex Lushington age 16 from Douglasville, GA. Alex Lushington has been performing since she was 7 years old and among her credits was “Showtime at the Apollo” and “Star Search”. Also Top 24 rumored Amanda Overmyer.

Over 12,000 showed up for American Idol Auditions in Atlanta.

We first met Joshua Jones the 26 year old Glass Makers with a passion for glass, who sand Queen’s Don’t Stop me Know. During his audition Simon made him turn around and perform with his back facing him or Backwards because of a weird thing he would do with his eyes. Regardless frontwards or backwards Joshua Jone received a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.

Net was JP Tjelemand who’s clam to fame was that he auditioned in season 4 where Carrie Underwood was two people behind him. Simon said about JP “My Pen has more charisma.” JP received 3 no’s from the judges.

Asiah Epperson whose father passed away 2 days prior to the auditions sang wonderfully and was full of emotion. She received a Hollywood Golden Ticket.

18 year old former beauty pageant queen as Miss South Florida Fair Booke Helvie sang her way to a Golden Hollywood Ticket. Simon said, ” I didn’t want her to sing well”. But she did and got the pass to the next round.

Eva Miller Fell down during her audition and Simon honestly thought her audition was a joke. It wasn’t but you will be sure to see this American Idol reject on a Youtube video soon.

We then caught our first glimpse of rumored top 24 Alex Lushington age 16. Along with what looked like her entire family, we caught like 5 seconds of her audition and her Golden Hollywood ticket.

Then 3 quick 2 second clicks of Idol Rejects Michael Gregory, Chris Lars and Jarey Whiley we came to Goth man 16 year old Nathan Hite. Nathan Hite had the attitude and was willing to give it to Simon. Simon called Nathan Hite’s audition as “Bedroom Performance” and Nathan quipped write back. It was rather enteraining, not the singing but rather the banter.

Next came Nurse and Biker and rumored Top 24 Amanda Overmyer who’s outfit, black hair with a blond streak and rustic voice impressed the judges. She was very original and was described by the judges as the female Chris Daughtry. Amanda Overmyer made it through and we expect to see much more of her in the future.

The final audition was Josiah Leming who lives in his car. He is from Morristown Tennessee but for the past year lives, and sleeps out of his car. When Josiah Leming’s sang he had an English accent. It impressed Simon enough to get the Hollywood Round Golden Ticket.

All in all, 19 people from the Atlanta auditions made it through to the Hollywood Round.

Tommorrow Wednesday 2-6-08 expect to see the Idol Rejects from all 7 audition locations and next week we start the Hollywood Round eliminations.
