American Idol Season 7 Omaha Auditions Jan 29 2008 ReviewAmerican Idol Season Omaha Nebraska Auditions

The American Idol train hit the heartland with the Season 7 Auditions pulling into Omaha, Nebraska in August 2007. Tonight on your local Fox station you saw what Omaha had to offer. In the end 19 people received Golden Tickets to the Hollywood Round.

Tonights 1-29-08 American Idol was short on talent but good on entertainment. Short on talent meaning they showed only a few of the 19 that were impressive enough before the judges to get to the next round. Good on entertainment because the show showed some heart, some class, and the wacko’s very loveable rather than totally weird strange and freaky like in so of the other shows.

Chris Bernheisel age 25 was a fan of American Idol for years. He brought gifts or “bribes” for theChris Bernheisel American Idol Season 7 Omaha Nebraska Idol Judges, he brought pictures of him with Kelly Clarkson, he brought enthusiasm and spirit but what he didn’t bring was singing talent. It was a no from Judges Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell. Paula Abdul was abscent, so no Hollywood Round for Chris Bernheisel. However Simon 2,0 the lighter side of Simon shined through when Chris asked to audition for the Red Carpet of the Idol finals. Simon asked about his local Fox Affiliate Fox 42 and told Chris to get in touch with them and he would be allowed to be a guest reporter at the Idol Finals in May 2008. That was cool. Chris Bernheisel was ecstatic about his opportunity and probably the Happiest person that ever got rejected in the auditions.

Jason Rich age 21 from Stout Iowa had 3 attempts to sing his song because he continued to forget the lyrics. Thankfully on the 3rd attempt he was able to sing his song and was rewarded with a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.

Rachel Wicher, better known as the 6 time Arm wrestling Ladies champ at age 23, also made it to Hollywood on her vocal talents.

Next up was Goth Power Lady Morgue Sarah Whitaker. He laugh was more impressive than her vocal abilities and didn’t make the cut. But Samantha Sidley with the help of guest Judge Ryan Seacrest got 4 actual yes votes to proceed to Hollywood. Find out more about Samantha Sidley here

Angelica Puente received a Hollywood Golden Ticket and also the love and respect from her distant father.

David Cook American Idol Season 7 Omaha Nebraska David Cook hoping to Follow in the footsteps of Chris Daughtry sang “Living on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi and received his golden ticket. David Cook is one of the rumored top 24 for this American Idol Season 7.

Johnny Escamilia made a fool of himself but in a good way and soon to be featured on Youtube with his Idol reject performance of “Shout”.

Leo Marlowe sang his way into a Golden ticket and surely made his mother and the other 199 people from his small Iowa town proud.

Once again 19 people made it from the Omaha Nebraska Idol Auditions to the Hollywood round. But it looks like David Cook is the only survivor into the top 24.

Anyone else notice Paula Abdul’s awkward “drunk” behavior? Slurred Speech, hiccup / belch, and weird behavior? or we just used to it by now in Idol Season 7?

Here’s a quick video recap
