The American Idol Season 7 Great 13 Conspiracy Theory
We have only reached the first week of the Fox Reality TV show American Idol and we have due to spoilers a potential top 50 List. Along with that list of names, some are not household names but have considerable professional careers in the past. These are not just the raw talent and finding the best undiscovered talent in America, yet the best Talent that didn’t make it IDOL big.
From the Soiled Top 50 list that I will reveal again at the end of this post, several of the Hollywood round names that are being touted as your next American Idol have been in the music business and spotlight before. Lets look at them shall we. Thanks to Votefortheworst and joesplace for some of there investigative reporting.
American Idol Season 7 Great 13 Conspiracy Theory
1) Irish singer Carly Hennessy
Carly Hennessy was imported to the US and American soil by MCA Records. Carly Hennessy recorded a disappointing pop album that had dismal sales. Can we say less than a total of 300 copies sold nationwide? To add to the American Idol Conspiracy and Controversy, one of the songwriters for Carly’s album also wrote songs for the debut albums of Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, and Kimberley Locke.
Record Producers figured that a boost on the Popular American Idol TV show would but this investment back on the map and pushed her into the American Idol contest. Simon Cowell commented prior to the Season 7 beginning about Carley Hennessy as “the only person I can genuinely remember from the auditions.”
2) Top 50 Hollywood Round Micheal Johns
Michael Johns is an Australian import, but he was formerly the lead singer of a band called The Rising and changed his name from Michael Lee. Michael Johns was signed to Maverick Records and was supposed to release a debut album in 2003 after allegedly screwing over The Rising by leaving the band.
3) American Idol Kristy Lee Cook
Kristy Lee Cook was signed to Arista Nashville, had Britney Spears lined up to appear in her debut video in 2001, and is managed by Marty Rendleman, who previously managed Leann Rimes.
4) American Idol Lorena Pinot
Lorena Pinot was in a post-Gloria-Estefan version of the Miami Sound Machine and toured internationally. She has recorded a solo CD and was planning on releasing it this year.
5) American Idol Jason Castro was on the television show Cheyenne and played the love interest of the main character.
6) American Idol Robbie Carrico is a failed singer from the pop group Boyz N Girlz United (check out their terrible music video). The band opened for Britney Spears and LFO before disbanding, and he was even one of Britney’s first boyfriends. Robbie now fronts the band Missing Picket that rocks just about as hard as Daughtryback.
7) American Idol Syesha Mercado was on the failed television show The One and is the daughter of a Motown backup singer.
American Idol Shaun Barrowes is an established songwriter and producer for artists on Sony and Universal Records. His website states that he has “recorded, collaborated, and trained with some of the best musicians and music producers in the country; musicians with artist credits such as Madonna, Michelle Branch, Destiny’s Child, Stacie Orrico, Joe Cocker, ZZ Top, No Doubt, and many more.”
9) American Idol Joanne Borgella is a plus sized model and won the televised beauty pageant Mo’Nique’s Fat Chance in 2005. She previously sang with Patti Labelle, Mary Mary, and American Idol’s own Bo Bice for a Christmas special. Joanne also appeared on the Tyra Banks Show, Good Morning America, and Hot 97 with Miss Jones.
10) American Idol Samantha Sidley is currently pursuing her degree at the Berkley College of Music, which seems innocent enough. But no, in August of 2002 she performed “The YaYa Sisters – An Evening With Samantha Sidley and Katharine McPhee” at the Gardenia in West Hollywood. Yes that Katharine McPhee American Idol Season 7 runner up to Taylor Hicks.
11) American Idol Amy Davis sang in a band with 2 members of Survivor and was a round 2 qualifier for 2007’s Nashville Star. She is also a fairly successful model.
12) David Archuleta won Star Search at age 12. During Idol’s first season, he met all of the finalists and even sang for Kelly Clarkson and the gang. A few days later, David met with a host of record labels and producers with connections to the show.
13) Brooke White opened for Phil Vassar on tour.

When confronted with some of these names and Allegations, the American Idol executives such as Ken Warwick had the following comments.
“The truth of the matter is, there are too many people who come on to audition for us to go into all their backgrounds,” Warwick said. “We judge it purely on, when they walk through the door, if they have a record company attached to them already, then we’re not interested. If they have a management contract, they’ve got to lose it. it. … We take them on the merits of ‘Can they sing or not?’
“There are kids who are sufficiently good out there, that maybe should be stars,” he continued, “and the fact that they’ve been a backing singer to someone else in the past — if they were within the age limit and they meet all the criteria that we set — then who are we to say, ‘No, you can’t have another go [at it]‘? That’s ridiculous.”
And while the show does make attempts to weed out those who have previously worked in the industry, Warwick said contestants’ backgrounds shouldn’t have anything to do with how far they go in the competition. Ultimately, it’s up to viewers to determine just who should be crowned “American Idol” champ.
“If they walk through that door and they sing well, then they will go through to the next round. End of story,” he said. “[And] don’t forget, when we get to the final 24, it’s America that makes up their mind. So if America, having found out a little bit more about the contestants — which, hopefully they will have done by then — if they decide, ‘Oh, this person’s been around the block three or four times, I don’t like them as much,’ then that poor person will have to suffer the consequences. It has nothing to do with us.”
And while the Idol Producer didn’t deny that some of the season-seven contestants had previous experience, he explained that the process of finding new, never-before-discovered talent has grown increasingly difficult, given the show’s popularity.
Well there you have it folks the American Idol Season 7 Controversy. Will it pan out, will these names listed above be in the TOP 50 that we are shown on air. Remember the Hollywood Round took place November and December of 2007 and is filmed. Does it matter to you? Are we looking for the Best New Singer, regardless of prior experience, or do we just want pure Undiscovered talent, or do we want another Sanjaya Malakar season?
I guess we will just have to wait and see and make up our minds as the time comes. They say we have the choice to vote people on or Vote Off American Idol but do we really believe or simple phone calls actually count? We never see the results, just a cheesy you have been voted off American Idol moment. But that does make for great TV doesn’t it!!

If all these people are already established artists, why are they on AI? Aren’t there some kind of rules keeping people with record deals from being on the show? More fishiness!!

One if the Former Top 50 Dropped Out already over it a while ago.
Jermaine Paul made the top 50, but according to JoesPlace, he smartly dropped out. Jermaine was already signed to J Records (home of Clive Davis, he who signs most of the winning Idols) and was nominated for a Grammy for a duet with Alicia Keys on her second album.
Alicia Keys is known as Clive Davis’s most recent pet project. Jermaine also appeared on a remix to Kanye West’s “Gold Digger” as a part of the group Focus. Jermaine’s website has mysteriously disappeared recently.

There is something “not innocent” about Samantha Sidley performing with Katharine McPhee three years before either of them were known? Are these people supposed to have never sung anywhere but in the shower before? (Sorry, just got a great visual) Samantha is exactly what AI should have been looking for and it’s sad she didn’t make it.
