Pil Stacey’s family and friends attened the Country Theme night on American Idol. They sat int he audience and had the full american idol live effect. Here is the inside scoop of being in the audience and a idol VIP.
Sitting approximately 8 feet behind the popular Fox television show’s judges Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson was part of what the Stacey Family described more than once as the “incredible” experience of being in the live audience for the pop singing competition.
Better yet, after seeing Stacey move on as one of the top six contestants, she’s feeling more confident about his chances of ending up as the “American Idol.”
“Absolutely, I think he’s got a shot now,” she said. “I knew what he was capable of, but until that show he had not shown America what I’ve seen.”
On April 17 and 18, Tootle sat in the audience with Stacey’s mother, Adrell; his sister, Rebecca Swanson; Tootle’s mother, Linda Tolle; and Stacey’s wife, Kendra, for the Tuesday performance show and the Wednesday results show, when Sanjaya Malakar was eliminated.
She said family members had to arrive at 3:30 p.m. for the show, which begins at 5 p.m. Pacific Time.
“There was a long, long, long, long line of people waiting to get in,” she said. “We were able to walk right past all of them and say we were with the family.”
After that, they joined a line of about 150 family members and VIPs before walking through metal detectors and turning in all cell phones and cameras. After a 30- to 45-minute wait, the show began.
Her cousin was first.
“It was pretty incredible,” she said, adding that like each contestant Stacey appears on stage a few minutes before singing while the television audience watches a videotaped piece about the performer. “He spotted his mom and his sister and my mom. He was all smiles. … He was the most relaxed one there.”
His performance of “Where the Blacktop Ends” during country week on the program was his best performance to date, she said.
Hesitant to say too much, Tootle revealed that Stacey has “had some pretty incredible offers” as have other “Idol” finalists. She said country music star Martina McBride, who served as the contestants’ mentor for country music week, was “really impressed with his singing ability” and invited him to perform at her show if he’s in the neighborhood.
The No. 1 show’s popularity makes for a full schedule for Stacey and the rest of the finalists vying for the top prize, Tootle said.
Tootle said Stacey and fellow contestant Chris Richards arrived at the Stacey family’s hotel room after the program to visit and watch the show, which airs at 8 p.m. on the West Coast.
“They chit-chatted about how his performance was,” she said, noting that the venue of “American Idol” is noisy. “It’s even harder when you’re on stage. You have to have incredible pitch to sing on pitch because you can’t hear yourself.”
Her favorite moment of her first time in Los Angeles?
“Probably 10 seconds into his song because at that point … it was very clear that tonight was going to be very different. He was comfortable with himself. It was a great week to be there.”

Is there a web page where I can email the producers or give feedback on the show?
I live in California (San Jose). Why can’t they show it live here (i.e. 6-7 pm)? I love your web site idol-mania.com, I read the results at 7 PM, which is 3 hours before I can watch it on TV.
