American Idol 2007 started off with a bang. The show featured Minneapolis Auditions and all shapes sizes and colors came out to pursue their singing dreams.

Unfortunately out of the 1000’s that came out only 17 were given the American Idol Golden ticket to move onto the Hollywood Round.

One of the 17 was a lady named Sarah Kreuger who’s voice, style and looks could potentially take her all the way to the top in this competition. Two military related personnel performed and made their way to Hollywood as well as some under 18 year old performers.

There were Plenty of Odd-Balls and Goofs in at the American Idol Auditons, including Charles Moody who dressed up as Apollo Creed from Rocky Movies and sang opera music.  Other oddities at the Idol Auditions were:

Matthew Volna wore a cowboy outfit and a cowboy hat to the auditions.  After an attempt at singing Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues,” Jewel asked him if he was serious of just doing it to be funny.  Simon Cowell called his audition “pointless” and Randy Jackson called it “awful.”
Jesse Holloway told the judges that he could hit some of the same notes that Mariah Carey could hit.  A couple verses into his song, Jesse excused himself to go get some water because he said he was nervous.  When Jesse returned and sang no better than before he left, Simon Cowell asked, “Jesse, why did you come back in the room?”

Three of the worst singers also were three of the most unusual singers.  Trista Giese displayed a bizarre singing voice where she imitated a lion.  Trista described her voice as unique, but Simon Cowell said “It was one of the strangest auditions I’ve ever heard in my life.”

Jason Anderson juggled while singing badly.  Simon Cowell told Jason that he had just summed up Minneapolis, “useless at everything.”  Randy Jackson told Jason that he showed up for the wrong show and recommended another show called “America’s Got Some Talent.”

Brenna Kyner had a tattoo drawn by American Idol 5 finalist Ace Young on her arm and sang “Under Pressure.”  After Brenna screamed her way through the song, Simon Cowell said “It was almost as bad as it can possible get.”  Brenna said that she had ten years of training in singing, and Jewel quipped that somebody took her money.  When Brenna asked if there was anything she could do to improve, Simon Cowell told her to leave.

The one thing I noticed in this show was that Randy Jackson took on the Harsh, Rude and Cynical Role usually left for Simon Cowell. Randy’s comment to several of the wannabe Idols were very demeaning.

Tommorrow Night the audtions from Seattle are revealed and from the previews and other sources this audition process was the worst ever in the history of American Idol. Tune in for the Seattle American Idol Audition Circle review on FOX.
