For all those curious about how our West Tennessee folks fared in the “American Idol” tryouts in Memphis over the Labor Day weekend, the wait might be longer than expected.
After several attempts, The Jackson Sun has not been able to find out whether locals Caitlyn Jones or Marcus Mitchell will move on to the next level of judging, which would mean a little face time with the Fox television show’s three main judges – Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul.
Fox public relations officials said they are unable to confirm the status of locals in the competition.
Jones’ mother, Angel, said on Tuesday that she could no longer discuss Caitlyn’s status with the media.
The Sun is still trying to track down Mitchell in attempts to learn his status.
The sixth season of “American Idol” is scheduled to air in January.
