Winner Taylor Hicks, runner-up Katharine McPhee, fourth-place Chris Daughtry and sixth-place Kellie Pickler have inked deals with 19 Recordings and BNA Records, a label founded by “Idol” creator Simon Fuller and part of Sony BMG.

According to www.idolonfox.com, Hicks, McPhee and Pickler’s debut albums are set to drop Nov. 14. Daughtry, a former Virginian, is expected to release his album before year’s end.

Eighth-place Bucky Covington plans to announce a Nashville recording contract Aug. 25, according to a news item at buckycountry.com.

The big cheese

“American Idol” winner Taylor Hicks‘ single, “Do I Make You Proud,” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100. His first-week sales beat those of previous Idols Carrie Underwood (season 4) and Fantasia Barrino (season 3).

Speaking of former Idols, Variety says Clay Aiken’s third album is scheduled to hit stores Sept. 19, Ruben Studdard’s third on Sept. 26 and Barrino’s second on Oct. 17.

But what about our Elliott?

Inquiring minds are dying to know what Elliott Yamin’s next move will be.

Richmond’s own third-place Idol told The Times-Dispatch on Tuesday that he’s looking to put out a funky R&B, soul-type record, and he expects to announce a contract soon. Given that he’s not announcing yet, chances are good that he’s in talks with a non-”American Idol”-related label.

Yamin’s “Moody’s Mood for Love” off the “American Idol Season 5 Encores” CD hit No. 1 in early June on Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart.

“AI” contestants still aren’t talking when it comes to dollar figures. Neither Yamin nor his mother, Claudette, will say how much money he’s making on this 60-date tour, which ends Sept. 24 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

It’s a healthy salary, says his mom. Add expense-paid travel, board, food and wardrobe — at least till tour’s end — and you’ve got yourself a party.

Here’s a comment on the whole contract thing from Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Slezak, who was charmed by Kellie Pickler’s appearance on “The View” July 19: “It was almost enough to soothe my stinging outrage that Pickler will have a single on the airwaves by late September, while fellow ‘Idol’ contestant Elliott Yamin remains criminally, inexplicably unsigned.”

Hang on, Slezak. Yamin’s big day is just around the bend. That’s the way the tour goes

According to Internet reports, Hicks either is the undisputed star of the show or — and we quote The Hartford Courant — “he’s devoid of magnetism, nuance or style.”

You be the judge when the “American Idols Live” tour stops Saturday at the Richmond Coliseum.

Reviews have labeled the tour concert everything from a karaoke show (Hollywood Reporter) to a guilty pleasure (Billboard.Biz).

Online fans say Elliott Yamin and Daughtry have been killing with their duet, “Savin’ Me,” snippets of which are all over youtube.com.

Katharine McPhee’s absence from the tour due to severe bronchitis and laryngitis allowed more time onstage for several of her fellow Idols. But even if McPhee has rejoined the tour by the time it hits Richmond, Yamin has been told “Savin’ Me” will stay in the show.

According to reviews, Ace “Pretty Boy” Taylor gets more applause for taking off his coat than for singing “Father Figure.” What are the odds?

“American Idol” has been nominated for eight Emmy awards, including outstanding reality-competition program. Fellow nominees are “The Amazing Race,” “Dancing With the Stars,” “Project Runway” and “Survivor.”

The 58th Annual Emmy Awards will air at 8 p.m. Aug. 27 on NBC.

Betmaker.com lists “AI” as the favorite to win outstanding reality-competition program, with “The Amazing Race” a close second. “AI” has been nominated for a total of 22 Emmys but has yet to win one. So you think you can sing?

Think you can out-sing Taylor Hicks, eh?

Sorry, rhetorical question.

But if you do, start packing your bags. “American Idol’s” Season 6 auditions begin Aug. 8 in Los Angeles. Auditions also will take place in San Antonio; East Rutherford, N.J.; Birmingham, Ala.; Memphis, Tenn.; Minneapolis and Seattle.

If you’re eligible to work in the United States, will be 16 years old by Aug. 6 and no older than 28, you’re welcome to audition. For dates, times and FAQs, visit www.idolonfox.com/auditions. Saturday night fever
