Randy Jackson
Maybe you never heard of Randy Jackson before the first season of American Idol, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t a big name in music. He was a bass player for the seminal 80’s band “Journey” (for which he won a Grammy),and he played bass on the Divinyls 1991 self-titled album.
In addition to his own musical career, he also had a wildly successful career in the nuts and bolts of the music industry itself. He was the vice president for A & R at Columbia Records for eight years. After that, he became the Senior Vice President of A & R at MC Records.
Randy has worked with such artists as Mariah Carey, Elton John, Whitney Houston, Madonna, and Destiny’s Child, among many others, and he has coaxed over one thousand albums into gold and multi-platinum status.
Since his job as a judge on American Idol, Randy Jackson has headed up “American Idol Underground,” a behind-the-scenes look at the nitty gritty of the show. His musical talent along with his experience in the music industry make him a fantastic judge of new talent – the best trait a judge on American Idol can have.
As the last original judge, Randy will likely be taking the reigns as the “leader” of the American Idol judges, using his characteristic tact and charm to make contestants feel comfortable, while still doling out constructive and valuable criticism.
In a recent interview, Randy was asked how he felt about doing the show without Paula, Ellen, Kara, and Simon and he expressed great excitement in working with Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. Since he has had a working relationship with Lopez in the past, it’s not exactly like the two are strangers.
Randy says this season will be great, and that as viewers we have a lot of wonderful things headed our way. He actually said that this season has the best group of singers to date. So, hold on to your hats, Fans. American Idol is far from over.

(Re: Haley)
Haley – you should sing this:
Done : Standing in the dark, wearing a long black dress, looking up during the intro – with the spot light only on you, with the mic – stationary – on a stand, your arms out wide ( not smiling or bouncing around) a choir coming in during the second verse and a sunrise coming up in the background:
You can win this thing. You have a powerful voice. But , you need to be taken seriously. I believe you have the voice for this song and – if you do it – you will blow everyone away! It has a great message and is also so appropriate for the competition!
Sing it girl! Surprise them all! Give it a wail – Hale!

Randy had a bug up his ass for Haley from the start. She was the best by far and the counrty final’s should be a boooore ! Steven Tyler knew who was best. I think Jennifer was a little jealous of Haley being so young and a better singer than she’ll ever be. ROCK ON HALEY !!!!
