Garner, North Carolina resident Scotty McCreery is pure country. The first of the Top 24 to make it to the Top 13, Scotty first caught the judges attention in the Milwaukee auditions when he sang “Your Man” by Josh Turner.
And then he sang it a lot during Hollywood Week, trying out for different groups. We were a little afraid Scotty McCreery wouldn’t find a group to sing in. He did, with Clint Jun Gamboa. Drama ensued.
There was a bit of a snag when his group (thanks to Clint Jun Gamboa) ousted teen cutie Jacee Badeaux, but gentlemanly Scotty McCreery was so contrite that America fell a little more in love with him.

Hollywood Week was a little rough. Scotty forgot the lyrics to “I Hope You Dance” and gave us the wonderful catch phrase “nuts of wonder,” which we are fond of using in our snarky comments on Jebbica’s live blogs.
Scotty McCreery, a tender 17 years old, is a student at Garner Magnet High School, where he also plays basketball. He came through in Vegas Week when he sang “Letters From Home” by John Michael Montgomery.

Scotty McCreery definitely has his niche, so we’ll see how that works out as far as his ability to tackle the different categories the contestants are faced with, but I’ve always said that you can turn ANY song into a country song, so we’re hoping that’s what he’ll do. Jennifer Lopez said the same – she wants to see more of the same, and wants Scotty to stick to his roots.

Scotty is a natural born singer. He sings from his heart, touches the audience and he has passion. He is a good boy with heart and soul. I wish him the best for Idol and his future career. I love listening and feeling his music.

Scotty has the most Amazing voice I had ever heard he sings from his heart that’s why he has such a deep voice!!! My friend Kayla said one time while at lunch oneday. I hope to see him win. I love you Scotty and your amazing voice!!!!

I think the longer Scotty is on American Idol the bigger star he’ll be when he heads to Nashville.
The guy has a gift and he handles it well, a tribute to his upbringing.

you guys are all right.. he has the most amazing voice for a 17 year old boy from growing up listening to country music. he has a big heart and i can tell he loves to sing. i love watching him sing on idol. he blows my heart away. he also gives me goose bumbs when he sings and that is a good sign!!!!
