American Idol 2011 – Naima Adedapo

Naima Adedapo is a Wisconsin native. Either that, or she was born in Chicago. The sources vary on this particular piece of information. She took dance at the University of Wisconsin and is a member of the reggae group R.A.S. and the Ko-Thi Dance Company.

We learned in her audition that Naima Adedapo cleaned facilities at Summerfest for money, but she is musical and seeks out musical venues and opportunities whenever possible. She was born on October 5, 1984 and she sang “For All We Know” by Donny Hathaway for her initial audition.

She performed with Jacob Lusk in the Group Performance Round of Hollywood Week, though her vocals were a bit shaky at that point.

Naima Adedapo’s Vegas performance was with Jacob Lusk and Haley Reinhart, and it was spot on. Again, she was a weaker link. Her vocals are strong, but not as controlled as her teammates.

It was in the Top 12 Girls performance that we really saw what this young chanteuse Naima Adedapo is all about. She sang a Gershwin tune, “Summertime,” that Randy of course evoked Fantasia on, but her performance was very solid, and her dress was fantastic.
