After a record breaking 122 MILLION votes coming into Idol for the finale, we now know who our winner is. Or maybe you don’t, and that’s why you’re here? Who knows! But, before we got to find out who the winner is, there was tons of finale pomp and circumstance to go over. And by “tons” I mean, 2 hours’ worth of shenanigans. Oh yay!

Here’s my recap of how the show went down, who performed and what happen. Be sure to leave your comments in the comment section below.

Ryan Seacrest and His Lolly!
The night started with the squealing Gerbil himself, Ryan Seacrest. He was holding onto his microphone like a 5 year old with a tootsie pop. That was seriously disturbing me. However, Ryan checked in with the crowd gathered at the UTC McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, TN to cheer on Lauren and Scotty fans at the RBC Center in Raleigh, NC. Basically what was established was, these kids have fans and are going to make someone a lot of money.

Top 13 Make a Return!

The Top 13 boys and girls from this year came out in all white to perform Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” This essentially reminded me why I hated the group performances. Will someone tell me who a few of these people were? The only ones I was happy to see were Paul and Haley. It was nice to see Pia’s stuck up face again. I’m surprised the show let her back since she just released a Single with another producer.

James Durbin with Judas Priest!
James Durbin followed the previous blunder accompanied by Judas Priest. All I have to say is, James was right where he belonged, screeching next to Rob Halford, performing “Living After Midnight’ and “Breaking the Law.” It wasn’t the least annoying thing I’ve ever heard, but at least it was exciting and I’m sure that was cool for James.

Randy Jackson IS IN IT TO WIN IT!
We got to unwillingly sit through a tape of Randy Jackson saying “in it to win it” time and time again. Can we vote this douche bag off of the show? Someone 86 him from the building. The only thing Randy has ever won is his head up his… Ahem.

Jacob Lusk with Kirk Franklin and Gladys Knight!
We went from “BREAKING THE LAW” to “Obeying the law because it’s what Jesus would want.” I didn’t miss The Luskerz. They all sang “I Smile.” And although Jacob was defiantly in his element here, it was still such a drag. Did anyone enjoy that? Bring back the other Preacher… or Priest.

Casey Abrams with Jack Black!

That’s right. Casey Abrams and Jack Black together, singing Queen’s “Fat Bottomed Girls.” I swear to god, this was the epicest thing. And I knew for a fact it was the best performance of the night, even though I hadn’t seen the rest at that point. It was a bit of an over-exaggerated act, which Jack Black is a bit known for. Casey defiantly got his comedic act on…

The Top 13 AGAIN! The Girls!
All in bright red for a Beyoncé medley that had Beyoncé joining the girls on stage toward the end of the performance. The only “singer” that stood out in this group was probably Haley, because the rest of them sound the same. They all looked pretty though. And apparently Beyoncé gave them all boost of confidences and told them they all looked great.

Steven Tyler “Slap that baby on the a** and call me Christmas!”
Though a good portion of the vulgar language and underage cat calling was bleeped out, but it was way better than Randy’s tribute… and rather fitting.

Haley Reinhart with Tony Bennett!
Haley Reinhart took to the stage next to perform “Steppin’ Out With My Baby” with Tony Bennett. The eighty-five-year-old dude sounded… old. But he had Haley there to be epic for him. She sang that song really good and I think they should make an album together, because that would be rad as hell.

J-Lo’s Milkshake Brings All the Boys to the Yard!
Next, it was time to make fun of J-Lo. All that was shown was young guys throwing themselves at her, stripping for her, making her feel old and creepy fat guys calling her “baby.” Ew! Seriously, I wonder if that crap makes her feel gross?! It makes me feel gross just thinking about it.

Totally Random Guest Performance with TLC and ‘Lil Jon!
Thia, Naima, Karen and Ashthon joined TLC and ‘Lil Jon on stage for a performance of songs that are from the 90’s. Yo’ “Waterfalls” is older than Thia Megia. Wasn’t there a creepy commercial with that song and the Olsen Twins? Or am I thinking of something else? And also that big blond gal needs to lay low on the packs of cigs. She sounded a little… rusty.

Scotty McCreery with Tim McGraw!
Scotty McCreery was up next, performing Tim McGraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying” with Tim himself. And to be honest with you, in parts of the song I think Scotty did a bit better. One thing I’m happy about is the fact that Scotty doesn’t wear really tight pants, because I hate seeing the outline of a guys manjayjay. Just sayin’.

Unsung Heroes!
“Big” Joe Repka popped up in a pre-taped blurb about people we don’t remember or care about. We got to see Matt “Big Stats” Frankel again, the “chicken dance girl” as well as some other miscreants that are up to their 30 seconds of fame. I wanted to commit an Idol Assassination at this point.

J-Lo and Marc Anthony Perform Together!

And by “perform together” I mean J-Lo just comes out and shakes her arse to whatever it is Marc was singing about. The song was called “Aguanile.” Sheila E. was there rocking out with him.

Casey and James “Most Shocking Elimination!”
This time it was James and Casey arguing over who had the “most shocking” elimination of the season. They seemed to have a lot of fun with that one. And I like when Casey said, “You know you really suck when you get voted off twice. It’s like, ‘You suck, but we’ll give you another chance… no you stuck, nevermind.” BAHAHAH! Made me lawl!

Top 13 AGAIN! The Boys!

The Top 13 guys were on next and performed a medley of Tom Jones’ songs, which were “She’s a Lady” and “What’s Up, Pussycat?” Tom joined the boys on stage, towards the end of the performance. I’m just wondering if this guy goes to the same Botox Clinic Kenny Rodgers goes too? He looked scary. But, then again, he’s old. And everyone above 27 is old to me.

Last Ford Music Video and Teachers!
I hate these. But anyway, after this atrocity was over, Ryan stated that Lauren and Scotty were asked to invite a teacher from each of their schools to the finale. Lauren went with her high school principal while Scotty chose his chorus teacher. Each will get a Ford Focus courtesy of Idol, while Scotty and Lauren will get to drive off in the Ford car of their choice. Which is funny, because I’m pretty sure neither one of them drive yet. How much you want to bet Scotty goes with a truck, and Lauren gets a cute little car?

Lady Gaga Rocks Your World!

Lady Gaga stood on top of a rock formation thingy on stage to perform her latest single, “The Edge of Glory.” I would have been throwing up being that high and moving around like that. She was dancing with some guy and then they LEAPED TO THEIR DEATH… or at least into a net. It was cool. Gaga is Gangsta.

Lauren Alaina with Carrie Underwood!
What would be good to follow-up Lady Gaga’s left-field antics? Lauren Alaina and Carrie Underwood singing “Before He Cheats.” I liked it. But, I think Lauren isn’t quite as good as Carrie. Not to mention she was probably keeping it down a bit so she doesn’t screw up her vocal chords anymore. And is it just me or does Carrie Underwood look better and better every time she’s on TV? I’m so jealous.

“They’re CHILDREN.” – James Durbin!
The past Idol contenders got to make fun of the fact that there were 2 KIDS in the Finale. Casey doesn’t think they can read yet. Naima thinks they still have Similac on their breath. Stefano thinks “American Jr’s” was canceled awhile back. Oh it was funny. Aha.

Beyonce AGAIN!
Beyonce performed her latest, “1 Plus 1″ which made no sense for the Idol Finale. I was really wishing she wasn’t going to sing about “being woman, hear me rawr” but now I wish she would have done that instead. It made no sense. She should have done something exciting and fun. Fail!

Spider Man’s Bono!
Bono, The Edge and Reeve Carney were up next to perform “Turn Off the Dark.” Sadly, no one was injured in the performance. J-Lo did try to take off Spider Mans mask. She almost shattered the illusion. Damn her! The singing was a bit horrific… That’s all!

Steven Tyler, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
The last performance of the night came from Steven Tyler, with the Aerosmith classic “Dream On.” It wasn’t as good as it would have been had the band been there and Steven wasn’t 97 years old, but still. He can still scream. Cool.

RESULTS!
Finally, it was time to “turn the lights down low” and get to the results. Your American Idol Season 10 winner? Scotty McCreery! WHEWWWWW!!!!! I knew it.

WOW. I typed my fingers off. Seriously. At least be nice and appreciate my work and comment. What did you guys think? Was the show too much? What was your favourite performance of the night? Do you think Scotty McCreery should have won American Idol? Leave your comment in the comment section below!

Good season boys and girls. Glad it’s over though.

I’m glad james durbin didn’t win. He is kind of fullof himself maybe a little conceited. Scotty has a beautiful voice. They chose the right person

I do think that Scotty should have won. My favorite part of the show, when Casey, and James were fighting over which one was most shocking.

“We went from “BREAKING THE LAW” to “Obeying the law because it’s what Jesus would want.”

    I love you.

My favorite part was the Jack Black/Casey number, and then Jack Black trying to hug Scotty at the end and getting snubbed. That was awesome. Also, Scotty is totally gonna try to ask his chorus teacher out now. He’s gonna be all like, “how many guys you know give you a CAR before you even kiss them? That’s what I thought.”

I hated the lady gaga song, I know, I know everyone loves Lady Gaga but it was really inappropriate with young kids watching the tv. Yes they see lots of things on tv but idol knew scotty and lauren had alot of kids as their fans. So i think it was a bad call for idol to let her perform. I’m just saying

I thought the show drug on way too long, it got boring, it took away from the winner, it should have been more about their journey to the finale, who wants to see all those performers, all it did was take away from the Idols, a couple of performers would have sufficed, but it was random performers, by the time you got to the end and they told who won it downplayed the whole moment by all the random performers, it sucked. I was at RBC in Raleigh and everyone was bored to death, the winning moment was minimized and quick, you couldn’t even savor the moment, the next time stick to the what the show is about and stop make it a showfront for other performers, Beyonce should have sung a song about your dreams, etc., not focused on her lastest single, it was a downer, like I said the program showed no plan and it took away from the winners! It was poor programming and believe me I am a fan of Idol, but this was the worse finale show ever :(

Tony Bennett was great, such class, he has lasted this long for a reason, he loves what he is doing, you are young and don’t respect the longevity of his career, Haley should be so lucky to last a year, he is an icon, not just old!
