American Idol Top 3? Oh, why yes! Who else is excited to find out who the winner of Idol 10 is going to be? I think it’s going to be Lauren. But, I’d like for it to be Haley since James got voted off. What are your thoughts? Leave your comments in the comment section below.
As you guys know, the Top 3 gets to go home for that one trip back to make them feel like rock stars. But, this won’t be shown until results night when they need some filler. However, if you would like to find out a little bit about what actually went down with Lauren Alaina, check this out.
This is my recap of the night, what the contestants sang, and how shiz went down. Enjoy!
To start things off, there was some random crap like: A guy in a dog costume. James Durbin getting a home town visit and Priscilla Presley sitting in the audience… Why did we need to see this?
The contestants got to pick a song for themselves, Jimmy Lovine picked a song and the judges picked a song for each of them. And with the songs they picked, Beyonce took some time out of her jiggly schedule to help mentor the girls and… boy. Which then leads us to a historic run-down of Beyonce’s Successes. Either she’s WAY older than I thought (like, J-Lo old) or she has done a lot in a short time.
Yo’ Cait, I’m really happy for you writing this and everythang and I’ma let you finish, but Beyonce should be doing this instead.
… Ahem, anyway!
ROUND ONE! Contestants Choice.
Scotty McCreery | “Amazed” by Lonestar.
Beyonce thought he was cute and really loved how he could go really deep but also has good range. Okay, let me just say, overall this performance was good as expected. We’ve established he can sing anything country, and do it well. Does it matter if he wins? No. He would actually be better off NOT winning so he doesn’t get cursed with that dreadful “Idol Win.” I wouldn’t be surprised if he does get voted off, however. But, it won’t hurt him any.
Lauren Alaina | “Wild One” by Faith Hill.
Beyonce tried to boost her confidence and helped her a bit with her nerves.
What was up with her outfit? It was like some country girl decided to take a trip to Hawaii. That outfit was atrocious. Those cheap earrings and that weird parachute shirt. More insults? Yessir! That arrangement of the song was also horrible. Oh, the whole thing was bad. Yuck!
Haley Reinhart | “What Is and What Should Never Be” by Led Zepplin.
Beyonce liked how she took a lot of risk, especially with this song. She also liked her natural growl.
This was epic. Her Dad got to come out with her on stage, and play el-guitar for her whole song, which I’m sure was extremely cool for her. Annnnnnd she almost fell flat on her face. Which made me LOL, but she got right back up and kept on going like a pro. I liked what Steven said: “It’s not how many times you fall, but how many times you get back up.”
Round One Goes To: Haley!
ROUND TWO! Jimmy Lovine’s Choice.
Scotty McCreery | “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not” by Thompson Square.
They showed his audition and how in love with him J-Lo was. He looked like a real hill-billy back then. Now he’s prepped up a bit. Atta boy! The only reason this performance sucked was because the song is freakin’ horrible. Ugh. I hated it. You suck Jimmy. Oh, and prepare to see Scotty with a shaved head pretty soon. SHDC FTW!
Lauren Alaina | “If I Die Young” by Perry.
They showed her audition and I still love that shirt she was wearing. This was a faaaaabulous song choice for her. And she undoubtedly out-sang Kimberly, but that’s not difficult. It was also age appropriate. Before the performance Lauren ripped her Pantyhose, so they panned over to poor Lauren getting her legs “bronzed” by her makeup lady. She felt awkward about it, as would I. So what did Ryan say? “Can I help?” OH WHAT THE HELL RYAN?
Haley Reinhart | “Rhiannon” by Stevie Nicks.
I like Fleetwood Mac and she seems like a Stevie Nicks kinda chick… so this should have been good, true? Yeah. Not as good as I would have liked it to be. The arrangement was weird on this one too. And that’s just because some songs aren’t meant to be shuffled like that, but she still did good. And she stayed in one place so there was no falling down. I liked the wind effect she had going on too. If she didn’t have epic hair, it totally wouldn’t have worked.
Round To Goes To: Lauren!
ROUND THREE! Judges Choice.
Scotty McCreery | “She Believes in Me” by Kenny Rogers.
Kenny Rogers? Really? Ugh. No. This was boring, and really didn’t do anything for him. They could have at least had some fun with it and gave him something where he had to sing deep the whole time.
Lauren Alaina | “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack.
I could have sworn she already did this song. Or was that someone else? I was really disappointed that she didn’t belt it out in the spots she should have. She always falls a little short, but she looked pretty. She’s seriously getting boring at this point, she needs to bust some arse, and do it now.
Haley Reinhart | “You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morrisette.
I was freaked out when I heard she was doing this song. I think the judges should have picked “Dog Days Are Over” by Florence and the Machines… But, they never listen to me. The performance started out really rough, but she did REALLLLLLLYYY good in the chorus.
Round Three Goes To: Me!
Tonight was far to long, far to many songs… bleh. But, what did you guys think of the night? Who did the best out of these Top 3? Leave your comments in the comment section below! Hey Cait, I hate to be a grammar Nazi, but it’s Jimmy Iovine like with a letter “I” and pronounced “Eye-Veen”. I know it looks weird. Sorry, but Nathan points this out to me every week to tell you and now that Idol is almost over, I thought I’d finally say something, lol.
Other than that, great review and as usual, you are pretty on par with your opinions. I think Beyonce is only like 30 or so, which is like nursing home age to you, haha.

Also, who would have thought that Scotty would be the last guy standing out of the guys in this box over here in the sidebar? I still can’t believe he beat out John Wayne Schulz.

gawd, friggin gramer natsiiii. ugh.
I fixed it. Thanks Jebbinate. I knew once before I did it wrong, but you know how when something gets in your head once, you can’t get it out? Annoying.
She’s 29, btw. Which is pretty much ancient. Aren’t you getting about that antique age?
I KNOW! ‘The hell is up with that? The last guy standing should have totally been… oh wait, what are their names again? I forget.

Cait, good write up as usual. Why are these three left? It’s the 12-year old’s with unlimited text voting. . . and they are fast at it. I agree Scotty is good and got his self known. He can go now. Haley is idol material. She is her own idol. Besides, American Idol isn’t about how well you can sing, it’s how well you look when you growl.

No, it’s still Iovine with an I, not an L. As in Ice Cream.
And yes, I will be 28 this year. Can I get social security yet? Laugh all you want, but once you hit 16 or 17 the years go by really fast. I still can’t believe I’ve been out of high school for almost 10 years. It doesn’t feel that long at all.
