American Idol 10: Top 3 Finalists Episode Live (5-18-2011)
There are only three Idol finalists left, and yet they are going to subject us to TWO HOURS of show tonight! Oh, the humanity! Finalists Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery, and Haley Reinhart will be singing three songs each, and they will be showing us the glossy television version of what happened when the Idols went home to visit their hometowns. But you and I know the real story, don’t we? At least we do regarding Lauren, and if you don’t know what I’m talking about, read here.
As always, I will recap who sang what, the voting numbers, and the judges’ thoughts below and will save all my own snarky thoughts for the comments. Feel free to add your own two cents in the comments section below!

Early on I was hoping Haley would be voted off, and ever since “House of the Rising Sun”.. she shocked me and now I find myself pushing for her. I love her mysterious, raspy voice.. fun voice.. something new for a change. I’m glad she found out who she is, because she didn’t in the beginning.

How did the 2 worst contestants of the top 10 get to be the 2 finalists? Nothing against Mr. McCreery as a person, but that dude can’t sing to save his life. He’s a one trick pony that is in dire need of vocal training, because as of right now, it sounds like I’m listening to a monotone record. I suppose that it doesn’t help that the voting system is broken and flawed and every teenage girl with a phone can text about 1,000 times each. Miss Alaina definitely has more talent, but Haley had soul and already sounds like a professional recording artist. Frankly, after Casey Abrams departure, this show has gone down hill ever since. Talk about originality and character; that guy had more musical talent in his left pinky toe than all the contestants combined! But it’s alright, he’s moved beyond American Idol status and into a musical CAREER.
