Tonight, we’re headed to San Francisco for the final American Idol 2011 auditions. Yep, that’s right, the final auditions! Who’s sick of them? I am soooo ready to head to Hollywood tomorrow! But maybe they’ve saved the best auditions for last. Anything has to be better than last week, right? Let’s find out together. First words of wisdom of the show: “Just because somebody farts, let them finish singing, okay?” This is going to be a great episode. I can tell.
First is a girl from the Ukraine who thinks she’s already a superstar. She makes music videos of herself in the shower. Inessa Lee starts singing some Air Supply, always a good idea. She kind of looks like a little mouse. But American Idol she is not. I can’t decide if she’s cute or highly obnoxious. Peanut Gallery?
Back from the break, and they showcase some “talent”, though I haven’t really seen anyone impressive in their little mini-yeses. Stefano Langone immediately follows, who was in an accident that almost killed him. Some wicked scars later, he is doing much better now. He wows the judges with some “Heard it Through the Grapevine”.
Clint Gamboa is a karaoke host. This will obviously mean he’s an amazing singer. He’s really not bad, and I like his round glasses; you don’t see those every day! The judges love his interpretation of “Billionaire”, so he’s off the karaoke stage, for now!
Next is the very awesome Kenneth Berba, a guy with a tail, who kicks off a baddie montage. I personally think American Idol needs more tails, don’t you?
Back from the break, we’re trying to follow the super-awesome fully functional homemade Transformers suit with some good people. They don’t spend much time on them. Next is a girl who grew up in the rain forest, Julie Zorrilla. She sings “Summertime” with a whole bunch of runs, but the judges love it.
Dave Combs is a rocker, and rockers have long hair, man! He was born to be the next American Idol. He’s not Idol material, but he might not be too bad with some work. Steven Tyler’s getting testy. He hopes there’s someone good next. Following some baddies is Emily Anne Reed, a chick with a really weird speaking voice whose house burnt down. The weird voice bodes well for her singing, as it kind of makes her sound like a 40s jazz radio star. She starts playing guitar and singing and sounded awesome. She’s off to Hollywood.
James Durbin is the final contestant. His dad overdosed when he was 9. Then James was diagnosed with Turret’s and Asperger’s. He also has an adorable kid. Oh, and he doesn’t have a job. Is there anything else he can throw at our hearts to make us vote for him? He sounds kind of Adam Lambert-y, which makes him screamy to me, but the judges love him.
Overall, Emily Anne and the Transformers dude were my favorites of the night. Who did you love/hate?
