American Idol Philadelphia Auditions 1-15-08
The 7th Season of American Idol aired with the Philadelphia Auditions that took place in August of 2007. What you can expect from the first show of Idol and from the City of brotherly love other than some talent, some weirdness and some wackiness.
Of the 1000’s that showed up to audition for American Idol from all over the country 29 received the Golden Ticket to Hollywood rounds.
Golden Tickets that aired tonight were given to:
Joey Catolono
Junot Joyner
Johnathan Baines
Angela Martin
Kristy Lee Cook
Beth Stalker
Chris Walker
Brooke White
But as always with American Idol auditions it’s the off color or off tune or tone deaf stranger than fiction wanting 15 mintues of fame that take up most of the camera time.
We were introduced to Alexa Cohen from Allentown Pa. You saw it. Alexa Cohen actually left a message as a comment on this blog a few days ago. Here is her comment. IP Address and email address removed, but it is authentic.
Alexis Cohen
I was a Contestant, Pure HELL, They came to my house for the in home interview, and Simion say’s he was being fair when he tells people off? I want to know this, If They thought I was a talented boob why was his Camera Crew Sent to my house? Are you being Honest with me Simion, that My talent isn’t for your show, Or is this a sick sad joke where praying on human emotions is claimed to be good television? Was it the 1960’s image that was feared by the network?

Philadelphia Finalist – Sang Somebody to love Grace Slick – Janis Joplin,
Note For Note
We will let Alexis Cohen’s actions and her own words speak for themselves.
We also were introduced to the “star wars” theme on American Idol Philly Auditions with Christina Tolisono as the Dork Tone Deaf Princess Leia, and the Once Hairy, now Hairless via a last minute on camera wax job Ben Haar.
Ben Haar was dressed in the Star Wars Princess Leia costume, but resembled Jabba Da Hut with chest hair. After Idol Judge Paula Abdul’s instance of Haar’s Hair distraction he offer to have it removed. Once removed the once Hairy Haar, now Hairless Haar cam on to sing two notes and was asked to leave.
The other notable less than Hollywood or Idol to be candiate was James Lewis, the Philadelphia Tour Guide that likes to sing low. His rendition of Moses Let my People Go had Randy, Paula, and Simon laughing. It sounded more like a speech impediment than singing but was one for the Idol books of bad auditions.
What were your memorable or favorite moment of the Idol Philly 1-15-08 Auditions? Who did you like, Who did you hate, what is your opinion?

The young black fellow with the ‘dreads’ lives right around the corner from me – anyone know his name? He sang the Uncle Kracker song……

The young black fellow with the ‘dreads’ that sang Uncle Kracker at the very end is Chris Watson. I thought he said he was from Dover Delaware.
Also from Delaware is Jonathan Baines who made it to the Hollywood round and is listed from Smyrna Delaware
