Greatest American Dog July 24 Recap Review
The theme or tasks for this week’s Greatest American Dog is Teamwork. We some of our special little doggies and doggie owners apparently didn’t understand the concept. Also some understood the concept all to well and a Doggie Owner Reality TV Showmance is developing.
In each episode we have a Dog Bone Reward Challenge, winner of such moves into luxury dog suite room (aka HOH Room- Big Brother), A team Exiled to the Dog house ( aka Survivor – Exiled Island), the Best in Show Competition ( aka Top Model) and an voted off or elimination from the judges.
The first Dog Bone challenge of the evening was called the Tangled Leash. The dog and owner teams were divided into randomly chosen groups of two. The challenge was to navigate, figure out climb over, under and through an obstacle course while the dogs were attached to long leashes.
Elvis had a little bit of trouble following direction but was lucky enough to be paired up with JD/Galaxy and were able to stay in the middle of the pack. Travis and the oh so high pitched Brandy were fierce competitors with Laurie/Travis and Bill/Starr hot on their tails.
The winners of the Dog Bone Challenge were Brandy and Beacon and Travis and Presley. They won the luxury Dog Bone Suite or HOH room ala Big Brother. They also had to send someone to the Dog House (aka Exile Island) and chose the team of Laurie and Travis.
The high pitched voice of Brandy was to much to take for Travis, so he opted out of “Living” in the Dog Bone Suite and decided to hang out in a room with Ron and Tillman. Wise choice Travis. Brandy is extremely annoying, that must have been the reason she was cast. The Annoying One is a Reality TV Casting mainstay. There is one or two in every Reality TV Show.
Another wise choice was made by Travis as he seemed to develop a Showmance Laura whose dog is Preston. Watch for this to turn into some drama, A Reality TV Producers Dream.
Continuing the theme of Teamwork for this week, the elimination challenge is a team challenge of agility type tasks including a Frisbee toss, jumping through hoops, running through tubes/shoots, just to name a few. In an old school yard pick em, the two winners from the earlier challenge picked their teams.
Travis’ Team: Laurie & Preston, JD & Galaxy, Bill & Starr, Beth Joy & Bella Starlet
Brandi’s Team: Teresa & Leroy, Ron & Tillman, David & Elvis, Laurie & Andrew
Up first is Travis’ team. Galaxy misses his first Frisbee catch attempt but easily manages the second try. Bella was a little slow going through the hoops but Presley did a fantastic job pushing the cart. Starr did a great job with the teeter totters but the highlight was Preston going through the shoots.
Brandi’s team was up next and started out strong with Leroy on the Frisbee catch. After Laurie made the last hoop hole larger, Andrew didn’t have much trouble with the hoops. Short Tillman had a little bit of trouble pushing the cart but gave it a great effort. Elvis struggled with the teeter totter but still managed it. The high pitched Brandi squealed on Beacon through the shoots but the team ended with the highest overall time.
The bottom three this week were: David & Elvis for being on leash, Laurie & Andrew for making the hoop hole larger, and finally Ron & Tillman.
The Judges decided it was the end of the line and voted off David & Elvis. As almost scripted David Annouced “Elvis has left the building” which brought a chuckle to the remaining Greatest American Dog contestants.
