More specifically, all contestants must be between 16 and 28 years old on August 6, 2006 -- meaning that all applicants must be born on or between August 7, 1977 and August 6, 1990 in order to be eligible to participate.

Auditions for the sixth edition of American Idol will begin in Los Angeles, California, on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at The Forum.

In addition to Los Angeles, auditions will also take place in six other cities -- San Antonio, TX; East Rutherford, NJ; Birmingham, AL; Memphis, TN; Minneapolis, MN; and Seattle, WA. Beyond meeting the competition's age requirements, applicants must also be eligible to work in the United States.

Last season, American Idol only conducted auditions in six cities. In 2004, the show held auctions in eight cities.

Besides Los Angeles, the six other audition locations for American Idol 6 are:

• San Antonio, TX - Friday, August 11 at the Alamodome
• East Rutherford, NJ - Monday, August 14 at Continental Airlines Arena
• Birmingham, AL - Monday, August 21 at BJCC
• Memphis, TN - Sunday, September 3 at FedExForum
• Minneapolis, MN - Friday, September 8 the Target Center
• Seattle, WA Tuesday - September 19 at Key Arena

American Idol's sixth season will premiere in January 2007.

5-17-06: American Idol Voted Off Elliott Yamin
Idol is down two its Final two with Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee.

Next week Tuesday 5-23-06 the Final two Idols will perform.
On Wednesday 5-24-06 at the Kodak Theater The Final American Idol winner Will be annouced as the Last contestant of American Idol Season 5 is voted off.

 

5-16-06: Our top 3 American Idol Contestants Battle it out. Elliott Yamin, Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee. Each Idol will perform 3 songs this evening. One of their choice, one picked by the Idol Judges and one picked by the American Idol Producers.

The Prior to top 12 Process:

It's your turn to VOTE for your favorite contestant. Each Tuesday and Wednesday the Male and Female performers alternate as a group and perform for the Judges and the audience. The teleivison audience at home then can call a 1-866 number and cast their vote for their favorite performers. The votes are tallied and the performers with the least amount of votes are cut from American Idol,

 

This is season 5 for American Idol and at this point seems to have the most talented contestants. Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon are back to Judge and coment on each performance.

 

Auditons were held throughout the county to bring 24 Hopeful to Hollywood for the main competiton. So far each week 2 male and 2 female contestants have been eliminated from the competion.
