We had a reprieve last night from American Idol, but it’s back tonight for another two hours of singing! Hopefully this week’s contestants won’t be as bad as last week’s! Keep checking in with us for live play-by-plays of what’s happening!

Jasmine Murray is the first singer of the night.  She’s singing “Love Song” by Sarah Bareilles.  Not as good or honest as the original, which I like because it was Sarah’s send-off to the record company who told her to write…you guessed it, a love song.  Randy said it was pitchy, and Simon said he was disappointed. Way to begin a show!

Matt Giraud, the duelling piano player, is the first guy up.  He’s singing “Viva la Vida” by Coldplay.  No!  It is going to be impossible outdoing Chris Martin’s vocals on that one!  Kara said his bluesiness was lost in that performance.  Simon said it was verging on horrible.  Agreed! Simon also mentions he was trying to be a wannabe pop star, which was a put-off.  Double agreed.

Jeanine Vailes is someone we have seen almost none of, so seeing her sing is marginally exciting. She’s singing “This Love” by Maroon 5.  It’s horribly off-key.  Paula said she had good legs, and then she let Simon say she was terrible.  Randy said the best part was the end–when it was over!

Nick Mitchell/Normund Gentle is up…hopefully he’s finally the breath of fresh air this show needs!  C’mon, not like he can be any worse than the other contestants.  He’s singing that Dream Girls song…the one saying “I ain’t goin’ nowhere”…and hopefully he won’t!  I love this guy.  Simon said it was “horrific comedy”, Randy called it one of the most entertaining performances ever.

Allison Iraheta is 16 but looks 40.  She is another one we have barely seen. She’s singing “Alone” by Heart.  Wow, she sings way older than her age! However, she’s the best of the night so far.  Randy said she blew it out of the box,  Paula said she was the best of the night; as did Simon who added “by a mile”.

Kris Allen is next, who’s singing “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson. Not too bad, though I would have liked to have seen him do something different.  Kara said he was much better in Hollywood week.  However, Simon liked him.

Megan Corkrey is next.  She’s singing “Put Your Records On” by Corrine Bailey Rae.  I like her version better than the original.  However, I didn’t like her flailing or dancing or whatever it was!  Paula “hearts” her, and Simon hopes America votes for her, even though he thought she oversang the second half of the song.

Blue-collar Matt Breitzke is singing “If You Could Only See” by Tonic.  Not too bad, sounds a lot like the original. Simon said he liked Matt but he hated that song.  The rest of the judges said they didn’t like the song.  I think it’s a good song, but not necessarily right for the competition.

Jessie Langseth is next.  She has an 8-year-old kid OMG!  Her song of choice is “Bette Davis Eyes”. Personally, I like Gwyneth Paltrow’s version of this best, but Jessie is holding her own.  Especially considering the other stinkers we’ve seen tonight!  Randy thought it was just okay, Kara said she was sexy, Paula called her captivating, and Simon said she was forgettable despite her having a nice voice.

Kai Kalama is wearing a shiny shirt that kind of takes away from his cuteness. I missed the name of the song he’s singing, but it’s some old song.  Performance isn’t too shabby.  The lady judges are quite taken with him because he’s charming, though Simon thought it was corny.

Mishavonna Henson is the final girl of the night.  She’s singing “Drops of Jupiter” by Train.  I actually really like her rendition.  The judges weren’t impressed.  I thought it was good and could have been a lot worse than it actually was.

Adam Lambert has been saved for last because he is a lock for the guy Top 12 vote.  He’s singing “Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones.   And by singing, I mean screaming.  Simon said it was half brilliant, half terrible.  He also said people would either love it or hate it. Randy loved it. I hated it.  I’m sorry girls!  He’s cute, but I can go outside to hear cats in heat that sound better than that.

Okay, here’s who will get through:

Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, and Megan Corkrey.

Here’s who should get through: Megan Corkrey, Allison Iraheta, Kris Allen?, Normund Gentle! Oh yes, I went there. :) There really weren’t too many good performances this week.  Who did you like/dislike?

First of all I so agree with you Jebbica! I can’t understand all the hype about Adam Lambert. I was just disagreeing with my good friend who is another Idol fan about him. I just don’t think he is right for this competition. I think however Paula has a crush on him. I just don’t get it! Sorry chicks!
But gosh I am really disappointed at some of these kids who can really sing but blew it because their song choices were just plain horrible. :( I was really rooting for Matt Giraud, Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta. Actually I am still going for them. I know Matt blew it tonight but overall he is a phenomenal singer. I think Allison really has something special and Kris really has a beautiful voice too. Everyone else I dunno. By the way Norman Gentle had me laughing so hard that my stomach hurt! He really is hilarious!!!:)

I agree with Jebbica on the 3 people who’s gonna get through. I really Megan & Jessie since I saw them in the audition. I think they are unique.
I also like Allison’s & Mishavonna’s voice, I think they have powerful voice.
As for the guy, only Adam Lamber stands out, ’cause of his look & song choice.
I couldn’t wait to see Jorge (Puerto Rican guy) & Alex (nerdy looking guy) next week. I like their voice….it will be interesting to watch!

I was more impressed this week then last!

I really liked that Allison Iraheta – She sounds grown up but she is still cool enough that younger people will like her! She could defiantly become something like Pink, as far as attitude and voice. She just needs a personality. Lolz!

When Norman/Nick came on, I laughed my butt off! He is awesome, you have to kind of appreciate him. He really does not have a change in Idol but maybe he will get seen somewhere for a show or something!

Megan is cool, I hated watching her last night, it was slightly weird. She didn’t seem very comfortable, but shes cute! Don’t think she will make it though!

ADAMMMMM! So his performance was way overdone, but that’s just him. I think he will make it because of his looks, once people get bored with that, he’ll be gone. <33

I type to much, sorry! Lolz!

    My take, again this week…

Jasmine Murray – Love Song – I really like this song but I don’t like the way she did it, too much power…this is supposed to be lighter. I guess she tried to make it her own but i wasn’t impressed.

Matt Giraud, ah, I had such high hopes. His version of Georgia, what I saw, was amazing. But he butchered this one…not sure he’ll get a chance at redemption

Jeanine Vailes -the best part was her legs, sadly. i can see how badly she wants this but she just oversang it.

Nick Mitchell/Normund Gentle..ugh..this routine was fine in Hollywood week, but it’s time to get down to business. This guy is not gonna sell records. Time to go.

Allison Iraheta was the best girl of the night, I thought, although she still didn’t touch Carrie Underwood’s performance of this song. She was straining a bit during the high notes. Great quality to her voice though.

Kris Allen – well, as an Arkansan, I am biased but I thought my home boy was great – I’m worried that Adam Lambert’s drama will take the top guys spot, but hopefully he’ll get the wild card if that happens.

Megan Corkrey is gorgeous, and I like her voice but her performance vibe is just weird. what’s with the twisting and the babydoll look? With the ink? I don’t get it.

Matt Breitzke – Call me crazy, but I really liked tihs. It did sound like the original, but that’s not a bad thing, is it?

Jessie Langseth is great. I love her personality and I loved her rendition of Bette Davis Eyes. It’s a sexy song and I think she did it justice.

Kai Kalama is so cute but I did not love this. He sang it fine, but no pizzazz – i saw glimpses of what he might be able to do though and that was impressive.

Mishavonna Henson , I really liked her too. She has really nice tone and control and she’s cute as a bug. i don’t know why they keep saying she acts old, I don’t see that at all.

Adam Lambert – yuck. what the hell was he doing to the camera? i can’t stand this guy. he’ll probably get through, but he won’t last long.

I HOPE it is Kris, Allison and Jessie, but I fear Adam will be in there somewhere. We shall see.

I really liked matt breitzke and think it is a shame he didn’t get at least a wild card chance since he didn’t kiss simons rear end.
simon needs to get off of his high horse

junet joyner (the black guy) was a really good singer as well. he deserved a second chance as well. he sang, “hey delilah”.
