[...] Before Katharine McPhee was to perform, Ryan Seacrest talked about the “Wardrobe Malfunction” of last week. Apparently a button had fallen off, but we do have the pictures and photo evidence in this site as well.  Katharine McPhee performed Phil Collins “Against All Odds“. Randy didn’t think it was in the right key for her, saying it was too low. Paula said it wasn’t her favorite performance from her. Simon said that in parts it was a mess and it ran away from her. Kat said she knew she was losing it. While Kat and Ryan were talking, Simon interrupted, saying that it wasn’t one of her best performances. Apparently he got the impression that that’s what they thought he said. Simon seemed Love Stuck with Katharine now that his Little Minx Kellie Pickler is at a County Fair Near you Singing. [...]

There was no “wardrobe malfunction”. Her dress was intentionally cut high, no button popped open or was lost, believe me I was watching. McPhee & Idol producers were just trying to diffuse any flack from uptight viewers by calling it a malfunction as opposed to an intended split-second peep-show.
McPhee was also trying to create a buzz for future votes. (btw: the Janet Jackson Super Bowl “wardrobe malfunction” which they are referring to was premeditated by Jackson, Timberlake, and the MTV producers, and was totally blown out of proportion. European audiences’ see more nudity in broadcast tv on a daily basis.)

After McPhee performed Phil Collins “Against All Odds“, Simon originally said it was one of her best performances. However we knew he meant the opposite by the context and the way he said it.

Her best performance was the one with the “wardrobe malfunction”. (God bless TiVo…)
