The fact of the matter is that all of the musically talented and commercially viable bands were eliminated in the last 4 weeks. Denver, Sixwire and the Clark Brothers weren’t the finalists because they had talent or the most fans, they won because each band had 5 or 10 fans that called 50,00 times. Franklin Bridge, Tres Bien, and Light of Doom should have been some of the last bands on and Dot Dot Dot should have won. Sixwire sounds like an 80’s soft rock cover band, Denver is a B rate casino lounge act and while talented the Clark Brothers are NEVER going to even be a foot note in music history. What a shame that the best and most popular bands lost to such crap! Next year it should be a limit of 1 call per person so you don’t have a small group of people skewing the results as the did this year!

I have to disagree. I think the music industry eats up these competitions because they bring out people with different sound unlike the traditional music industry where 5-10 influential people drive the entire industry. There were two bands in this competition that you could say you heard something different out of and that’s Franklin Bridge and the Clark Brothers. Sixwire is the Eagles, Tres Bien sounds like a lot of the English bands from the early 70s, Light of Doom sounds like Guns N Roses, and Dot, dot, dot sounds like a Christian band called the Newsboys.

Light of Doom is good *for their age*. The lead singer’s stage presence was horrible and they sound the same every time. Now, I’ve been playing guitar for 6 years and I am completely envious of their guitar players, but if you had another band in their 20s playing the same stuff they may not have made it into the competition at all. There is a lot of promise in that band if they work hard and stick with it, but they didn’t deserve to beat out some of the bands that they did.

If you ask me, the only thing holding back DMHO is Denver. The lead in a big band has to move a lot more than that…. Taylor Hicks would be a good front man for a big band. He wouldn’t look so ridiculous in that setting. Their instruments are really good… perhaps you’ve never seen a B-rate lounge band because they are certainly much better than that.

Sixwire was the most put together band in the competition. Their ability to harmonize was way beyond the rest of the bands and I think they suffered from the fact that they made it look too easy. However, the problem I think they will run into is that they sound like lots of other bands. They will have to have a hit song in order to really make it big and they will have to keep producing them. They just didn’t seem to have a lot of good originals which is a bit concerning since they have been together for a long time.

I really liked Dot Dot Dot and I thought the panel really gave them an unfair shake because they didn’t like something about them. In the beginning they were a bit rough but the 3 weeks leading up to the night they left were really good. They shouldn’t have a hard time picking up a recording contract or a devoted following.

I thought Franklin Bridge was the most talented group in the competition. They had one bad performance and they were off. I thought that was the biggest tragedy of this competition because they were obviously very skilled and the blend of driving rock with a hip hop beat was great. I think Dicko said something though that was accurate in that sometimes they overdid their performances. Plus they would go into off-beat sections of their songs that I don’t think most people outside of percussionists get. It sounds disjointed on the surface and it’s too hard for people with average rhythm to hear the back beat.

However, the Clark Brothers drove emotion through their music more than anyone else. The judges said it every week and it started getting old, but I don’t think Sheila E was fake when she started crying up there. Other bands tried to play slow songs and they were boring. Those guys played slow songs and they were moving and the difference is how much they emotionally invested. When you come down to it, all art is about evoking an emotion. I think that’s the difference between a band that never makes it out of the lounge to a band that is truly great.

Of course, your assertion of 5-10 people calling 50,000 times is mathematically impossible. That number of people can not possibly call that many times in 2 hours. Second, the option would be available to fans of any of the bands, so your argument is moot.

The most stupid choice anybody could imagine. Contract? What for? The brothers don’t even have enough songs for 1 cd. Good luck. Fun to watch, thats it (will he cry or shit his pants?) But just annoying as for me. Too much screaming, not enough singing, too much acting, not enough playing. Cool look to attract teenager girls, but married and stupid enough to show his wife.

Sixwire was the best group in this competition. Cliff Wagner was the most interesting and fun. Kids were just cool because of age. Sixwire and Old #7 - I WILL buy their albums. Clark Brothers will be forgotten in a month and so will be Denver. Others couldn’t even sing a single note.

Enjoyed this competition and it would have done much better on another night. I figured the final three would be exactly who they were and that the Clark Brothers would win. The judges rarely said a negative about them. I like them and felt they were different than most bands. Not sure I will buy a CD or not. I thought Sixwire was the best group. Their sound was tight, they were great musicians and I really liked the originals they did, particularly “Go On”. I will buy a CD if they put one out.
Will they or any of the other groups get a record deal?

I thought sixwire would win. I liked all three bands, but it seemed like sixwire would appeal to a wider audience. I loved Denver, but I know that’s a niche market, they’ll do fine and dandy now that they’ve been seen. Light of Doom? They are kids, they are really good for kids, give them another 5 or 6 years and they will be contenders for sure.
I liked the Clark Brothers, I think they have a ton of talent and took direction pretty well, but that’s pretty easy when they are singing your praises. My hubby said they’d win, but I didn’t think so, the lead singer is petrified to be on stage…but I like that they’re Christians

I thought the right group won. Writers can be found for a group that can bring the emotion these quys deliver. Sixwire doesn’t have to worry, a record company will definitely pick them up.
Denver is a little weak on the front man and probably held back MHO. The other bands were good at their craft, while groups like the Muggs and Rocket definitely need a singer.
Being a former almost myself, I routed for the talent and knew the pressure they were all under.
    Hope the series continues.

I think Six Wire was the most talented and polished of the all the bands and that DMHO was a close second. I will buy CD’s from both of those groups if they produce one. While the Clark Bros. brought a lot of passion every week, I’ll agree with Matt that the Clark Bros will not even be a foot note - I just can’t see a wide appeal for what they have to offer.

This was predetermined becuase of their (Clarke Brothers) fundamentalist religion background. Should be of no surprise since it’s Fox. America didn’t vote, the network did all the voting and just said that America voted.

Lets get a show that creates a new band by having unknown musicians play original songs. Songwritng skills, musicians playing live together for the first time. We need something new and exciting, music is becoming very boring.

I stopped watching after Dot Dot Dot and Light of doom was gone. At that point I knew that it would be the Clark Bros. that would win. I fully believe the only reason they won was because enough of America thought he was good looking and had some talent. But a great American band? I think not they wont out sell Chris D for idol and he didnt win.

I listen to all types of music and have bought Dots album and am looking for Old No.7.

I also thought the right group won. What the Clark Brothers brought to the stage was passion and a sweet spirit that came out with every song they sang and they are phenominal with their instruments. It may not make it in the secular world but Christians will definitely appreciate them. I will definitely buy one their CD’s. All the other groups were pretty much what you hear now even though I don’t listen to it. Nothing new.
They will be truly blessed in all they do no matter how big or small it is.
