Phillip Phillips

Phillip Phillips is a contestant on American Idol Season 11. He auditioned in Savannah, GA for the American Idol premiere. Phillips is 20 years old and grew up in Sasser and Leesburg, GA. Getting the last golden ticket of the day, Phillips performed “Superstition” for the judges, and they loved it so much they asked him to sing with his guitar, so he performed an acoustic version of “Thriller”.

Phillips worked with his dad, Philip Phillips Sr. at a pawn shop, but Philip Jr. kept the Albany GA area entertained with his musical performances. He cites his musical influences as being Johnny Lang, Mumford & Sons, Dave Matthews, and Tool.

Phillips is an early favorite to win, making him the potential fifth “white guy with guitar” winner in a row on American Idol.

I wonder if Philip’s mother is Jennie Phillips, who stood up w/me when I married Bill Hetue. I have lost track of her, and she looks so like my old girlfriend of the early 70′s. I have tried to locate her before, and just could not believe the resemblence when I saw her on the show…American Idol….Go PHILLIP!!!!!!!!!!!!
