This is sad.
Alexis Cohen was more or less a star on this website. In fact, she and I had struck up quite a rapport over the past two years, her sending me her thoughts, stories, and exclusives. I was trying to book her gigs in Pennsylvania, and there was talks of me being her manager/agent. Hell, I even had her personal phone number.
But it’s a time like this, when…would it be polite to call? There is news flying that Alexis was hit by a car this morning and suffered from head, abdomen, and chest injuries, leading to her untimely demise. For now, I just can’t believe it. Alexis was larger than life: a real character. I have sent her a personal email, and I hope to gravy that she writes me back, saying, “the internet is full of rumors! Victory ryzing!” as she is so fond of doing. But if, indeed, the internet breathes truth, then we will have suffered a great loss in the Idol community. I know I wasn’t the only one hoping she’d come back next season for another go at the Golden Ticket.
I don’t want to post anymore in hopes that this is false information. So for now, either way, enjoy Alexis’ comedy act above. She is and always will be one of a kind.

Update: As much as I didn’t want it to be true, it apparently is. If it weren’t, she would have sent me 400 4 a.m. emails about it. Just awful. I regret that I never called her, never took her up on her open invitation to come stay with her at her house (that’s the person she was…inviting a total stranger to her house!). She will be missed!
