Here’s Kris Allen doing an acoustic version of “Heartless” by Kanye West, my favorite performance of the May 12 episode. That took guts! And I checked out The Fray’s version of “Heartless”, from whom people have commented that the inspiration came. Similar? Yes, but to be honest, I couldn’t get through the whole thing. Something about that Fray guy’s voice gets on my nerves. So I have to say I like Kris’ version better. And, do we still remember KANYE trying to sing “Heartless” on Idol? I love Kanye, but as far as live performances go, Kris: 1; Kanye: 0.
Randy: “I liked that better than The Fray’s version, better than Kanye’s version!” Kara: “Perfect!” Paula: “Bravo” Simon: “I had written you out of this competition, but that has all changed after this performance.”

i love it. If he make it to the final, it’s because of heartless performance.

WOW is all I can say!! I can’t stop listening to this song. I hate the original but this version rocks. Funny, last week I couldn’t stop singing “come together”. Kris is the total package and the most musically inclined contestant. I almost hope he comes in second though so he doesn’t have to do the mandatory A.I. songs, lol.

I absolutely love this song — fell more in love with him and respected him more as an artist with this performance. I’ve always been more of an Adam fan (though I like them both — go, Team KrAdam!) but with this “Heartless” remake, Kris really deserved the spot in the finale, and the win.
