Hey guys, I am going to go ahead and apologize for anything that might seem nonsensical in tonight’s blog. I got a job working for the Government (gasp!), and training has been kicking my butt! Well, actually it’s the drive…I just feel like I could sleep for a week. Having a cold doesn’t help. But anyway, put on your leisure suit, because tonight the Idols are going disco! Don’t they know that we’re trying to get relevant artists here, and disco died in 1979? I digress, but here’s one last thought: after tonight, we might be sad that only 2 are going home tomorrow!
Lil Rounds, VFTW’s new favorite, is first, singing “I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Khan. I’m out of it, but she sounds quite off-key to me! Randy: “You got the party started, but it sounded so wild to me.” Kara: “You’ve been every woman, other than yourself”. Paula: “You were hot tonight, but you didn’t hit the boiling point.” Simon: “This is the last week we’re ever gonna see you.” Ouch!
Next is Kris Allen, my favorite from last week. He’s singing “She Works Hard for the Money” by Donna Summer. He does a very Kris Allen-version, which I like! He is proving more and more that he’s an artist, not a karaoke singer. Kara: “You took a real risk with that arrangement, and it paid off BIG time.” Simon: “that was the polar opposite to (Lil’s) song, it wasn’t karaoke, it was a fantastic performance.” Randy: “You know who you are, you’re ready for the big time.”
Danny Gokey is singing “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire. I’m not feeling it. Randy: “I was worried, but you turned this into something that really worked for you.” Kara: “you’re pitch is always so right-on.” I’m probably going to keep skipping Paula’s comments. Simon: “there was no star power from you, it was a bit clumsy.”
Allison Iraheta is singing “Hot Stuff” by Donna Summer I think. Like Kris’, her’s isn’t a karaoke version. Randy: “I didn’t love the arrangement, but you’re one of the best singers in this competition.” Kara agrees. Paula: “it was edgy and authentic.” Simon: “you are the underdog this week, but that was a brilliant performance.”
Adam Lambert is singing “If I Can’t Have You”, and vocally, it’s not my thing, it’s a little Cher to me, but I like the arrangement. Randy: “you are ready right now dude!” Kara: (stealing Simon’s line) “You’re brilliant.” Paula: “It’s as if you tore your heart out and put it onstage.” Simon: “It was original, people will remember it, and the vocals were immaculate.”
Matt Giraud is “Staying Alive”, both in song and on the competition. It’s not bad, but should they have let him stay in? Randy: “didn’t love the song choice or the arrangement, but you can really sing.” Kara: “You brought disco back.” Paula: “We saved your life last week, but you saved your life this week.” Simon: “I’m not such a huge fan of that performance.”
Last and probably going home tomorrow, Anoop! He kills the first note, not in a good way! He’s singing “Dim All the Lights”, and it’s kind of all over the place. I love Anoop, but I’m not loving this! Randy: “Rough last note, but nice!” Paula: “You look great, love the pink!” Simon: “That was mediocre at best…it was your worst performace by a mile.” Anoop looks good tonight, but I’m going to have to say it was one of tonight’s worst performances! I’ll miss him.
Okay, it was pretty clear tonight on who was good and who wasn’t:
Best: Kris, Adam/Cher, Allison
Okay: Danny, Matt
Worst: Lil, Anoop
What are your thoughts?

Gotta agree that Disco should be history, but it turned out to be a good show. I liked your ratings but I thought Anoop was okay performance wise. I will miss him too but not Lil’.
