Glancing at the song list of tonight’s episode of American Idol, I can’t help but cringe! Unless these Idol hopefuls remake these songs into something amazing, tonight is gonna SUCK. I mean honestly, there are some songs that to be are the worst songs EVER listed: “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing”, “The Rose”, “Everything I Do”…the list goes on and on. In fact, the only song I LIKE on tonight’s list is the beautiful “Falling Slowly” by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, from the movie Once. And that, to me, is one of those songs that is perfect by itself, and I can’t imagine it not being a duet. Do it justice, Kris! Anyway, feel free to cringe with me, as I will be doing a live play-by-play of the show! Man, aren’t you glad Scott MacIntyre’s no longer here to do more mushy stuff?
Quentin Tarantino is the Idols’ mentor tonight, because he’s…you know, such a great singer and all.
Allison Iraheta is first, singing “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing”. My parents used to embarrass the crap out of me with this song growing up! We’d go to Pizza Hut, and they’d play it on the jukebox, and sing as loudly and badly as possible. I would literally hide under the table. Allison is a little less embarrassing, but it’s not spectacular. Paula says she possesses the same “special sauce” as Adam and is one talented lady. Simon called her the girls’ only hope left in the competition.
Anoop is singing another song I hate, “Everything I Do” by Bryan Adams. Seems like a Danny Gokey song; Bryan Adams totally has that “I’m sitting on the toilet” voice like Danny has. Quentin has some advice he should not heed, which is basically, “sound like you’re pooping.” Randy said Anoop’s been rocking his zone the past couple of weeks. Kara said it was probably one of his best vocals.
Next is Adam Lambert, singing “Born to be Wild” by Steppenwolf. I’m not necessarily a fan of Adam, but the kid’s a rock star. He doesn’t sing like he’s performing on Idol; it’s like he’s at a rock concert. Paula called him one of the bravest contestants they’ve ever had. Simon said it was vocally incredible, even if it was a little “Rocky Horror Picture Show” in parts.
More Bryan Adams, this time, brought by Matt Giraud. He’s singing “To Really Love a Woman”. Matt G is saving this song a little, back with his Justin Timberlake flair. Randy said he fell down more places than he won. Kara said he did too much with the song, and it wasn’t a masterpiece. I thought it was okay, but that’s just me I guess!
Next is Danny Gokey, who is singing “Endless Love” by Lionel Richie. I actually didn’t hate it this time. Maybe Danny’s growing on me, or maybe I’m just thankful not to have to hear anymore Bryan Adams! Paula called it a beautiful rendition. Simon said he was disappointed that they had the harp and a traditional version of this song.
Finally, Kris is singing “Falling Slowly”. Truthfully, I’m getting a little misty-eyed just thinking about this movie. He’s no Glen Hansard, but he does a great job! Randy thought it was pitchy from note one. Kara said it was one of his best performances EVER. I agree with…Kara!
Last and least is Lil Rounds, singing “The Rose”. SNORE. She hasn’t even sung yet, and she’s already Vote for the Worst’s new pick. I like that she “gospeled it up” a little; at least it wasn’t totally karaoke this time! Paula said something nonsensical. Simon said she was not the artist they met at the beginning.
Okay, so there were no really big standouts one way or the other tonight. All the horrible people are gone, which kind of takes the fun out of it! But for me tonight, it was Kris, then everyone else. What did you think of tonight’s episode?

LOLED at the part about your parents embarrassing you. That sounds WAY to much like something my Mum would do. I actually liked Allison’s performance, but the thought of Steven Tyler makes me want to cringe! You know the movie “The Dark Crystal” – the character Jen is what he reminds me of. Look it up, you’ll know what I mean.
I just freakin’ LOVE Adam. I don’t care how bad or good he is. Like I said in my blog. I wonder what Ryan REALLY meant when he said, “You need to come out of your shell”?. Lolz!
AND LIL ROUNDS. OMG – who in the H*** likes “The Rose”. Hasn’t that been done by every drunk person ever? She needs to go, along with Anoop and Wart boy…
Kris did pretty good, that dude is growing on me. Which is sad!
Yeah, last night was not as good as I thought, but I didn’t see the list of songs they got to choose from… So I had no idea what to expect.

I beg to differ. I thought last night was awesome! I expected great things and I feel like I got it. Not the best but it did me justice. I just wasn’t too pleased with Matt at all. That song was not his to sing. He tried to do too much with a simple sounding song like “Have you Ever really loved a woman” Lil’ really needs to hush it up! You can’t R&B every song up. Why don’t you just pick a R&B song in the first place girl? I could slap her on the head and ask her, “What’s wrong wit’ch you girl?!” (Compliments of the man, Bernie Mac) She is not pleasing me right now and I know hell of a lot of people. Kris was the best last night like a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to cry hearing the song. I know I can be a softie sometimes. I also loved my Anoop & Danny. Adam did well, but I he was still too theatrical for me and looked really pretty.
Allison rocks and Simon is right “She is the last hope for the girls” I really hope she makes it to at least top 4. Chat with you later!

Thanks for the post! Great information that I’m going to implement in my blogs! Truthfully, I’m getting a little misty-eyed just thinking about this movie. He’s no Glen Hansard, but he does a great job! Randy thought it was Fashion and Vintage pitchy from note one.
