Danny Gokey, a 28-year-old from Milwaukee, WI, had the most heart-wrenching story of the Kansas City auditions. Danny’s wife died just four weeks before his audition due to health problems. The Robert Downey Jr. lookalike did a great rendition of “I Heard it Through the Grapevine” by the Temptations.

I have never, ever, left a message on ANY board in my entire life but I gotta put my opinion out in the universe…first I have to say I am behind Danny 100%. He is honest and genuine and it shines through in his performance. He is a true musician! He will win this competition if the producers don’t come in and muck it all up. Speaking of true musicians…how did Jamar NOT make it into this competition? He was the real deal! Are you kidding me that Nick/Norman would take a spot before Jamar?! Come on now! I really hope Jamar comes back next year. In the meantime, I am totally the President of the Danny Fan Club!
