Syesha Mercado is up first. She’s singing “One Rock & Roll Too Many” from Starlight Express. Randy said it was her best performance and she could be a huge Broadway star, Paula said she brought the house down, and Simon said she was very sexy and it was one of her strongest performances.
Jason Castro is second and is singing “Memory” from Cats. Randy noted that it was a trainwreck, Paula said that it was a wise choice because it was different, and Simon quipped that it sounded like a young guy being forced by his mother to sing a song at a wedding he didn’t want to do.
Brooke White is up third. She’s singing “You Must Love Me” from the film adaptation of “Evita.” Randy said it wasn’t great but he was glad she listened to Webber. Paula said she should never start and stop, which she did at the beginning of the performance, but she was glad that Brooke didn’t overact. Simon lamented that it was tricky for him, and he thinks she will be very disappointed when she rewatches this episode.
David Archuleta is fourth and singing “Think of Me” from Phantom of the Opera. Randy it was “da bomb,” Paula said it was absolutely perfect, and Simon said it was pleasant but one of his weakest performances and a bit forgettable.
Carly Smithson is fifth and is singing “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Randy thought it was definitely good and he liked the outfit, Paula thought it may have been too high for her but it was good, and Simon said it was one of his favorite performances of the night.
David Cook is last but not least. He’s singing “Music of the Night” from Phantom of the Opera. Randy said it was amazing, molten hot! Paula said he was well-rounded and fantastic, and Simon said he made the most of the song but he still liked it.
Final verdict: Best of the night: Syesha Mercado, David Cook, David Archuleta, and Carly Smithson all did great jobs tonight.
Worst of the night: Brooke White and Jason Castro.

Good and Thanks for the heads up on the performances. I am in California and have to wait 2 more hours til I can see it. I hope Jason Castro goes home. He is an awful singer with no range. Love David Cook, David Archuleta, and Carly Smithson. Looking forward to seeing Brooke in the bottom three tomorrow. That Phoney BIOTCH!

David A is overrated and looks tired…he needs to go home soon. Syesha is really good, and I hope she starts getting the recognition she deserves in this competition. Randy should stop pimping David A. he has no range, and only sings ballads. David Cook has range, depth, talent, and consistently good — I’m calling him for the win.
