American Idol Top 8

The final 8 are singing Inspirational songs tonight. Stay tuned as we update the highlights as they happen!

8:00 p.m.: Michael Johns is up first, and he’s singing “Dream On” by Aerosmith. Randy didn’t like it, Paula said her chihuahuas were going to join him on stage, and Simon liked it but said it was a little wannabe-ish.

8:15 p.m.: Syesha Mercado is second and she’s singing “I Believe” by Fantasia. Randy said it was “just okay,” Paula said it was one of her most shining nights, and Simon said she sang the song very well, but it lacked emotion.

8:20 p.m.: Jason Castro is third. He’s singing “Over the Rainbow” by Judy Garland. Randy said it was “molten hot,” Paula said he was the most definitive Idol, and Simon said he loved it.

8:25 p.m.: Kristy Lee Cook is fourth and is singing “Anyway” by Martina McBride. Randy said it was really good but a little pitchy, Paula said it was her best by far, and Simon said she was very, very good indeed!

8:35 p.m: David Cook is fifth…he’s singing “Innocent” by Our Lady Lady Peace. Randy said he didn’t like it that much, Paula said he continued to be exceptional, and Simon said he didn’t like it and it was the weakest performance of the night.

8:40 p.m.: Carly Smithson is up sixth. She’s singing “The Show Must Go On” by Queen. Randy said it started out okay but was just okay and disconnected tonight. Paula said there was no connection with her. Simon said she looked good this week, but she oversang it and lost control of the song.

8:50 p.m.: David Archuleta is singing “Angels” by Robbie Robertson. Randy said it was his best performance to date, Paula said he needed to sleep, and Simon said it wasn’t his best but he would sail through to the next level. I loved the sign the little girl was holding up that said “Lick Those Lips!”

8:55 p.m.: Brooke White is last but not least. She’s singing “You’ve Got a Friend” by James Taylor. Randy said it was okay, Paula said she was definitive and she loved her, Simon said it was a nice pleasant walk in the park.

Final verdict: Best–David Archuleta again, Jason Castro … Worst–David Cook, Carly Smithson

I was surprised at Kristy Lee’s performance this week…she’ll live another week! Kristy Lee Cockroach!

Must have been my TV set, because I just didn’t get Jason Castro an over the rainbow. The judges raved over it, we thought it was horrible at this house. Humm…have to find it on Youtube and check it again..

I was literally speechless when it was announced that Michael Johns was going home. Kristi Lee Cook has once again, bizarre as it is, escaped being voted off! She should have been gone weeks ago! That girl has NO it factor and is no better than a good singer in a high school choir. If I heard her sing on the radio, I would never be able to identify who was singing, because her voice is soooooooo generic. And, although she is pretty & has a nie figure, she has no charisma, (unlike Michael Johns, who has plenty of charrrrrisma). He amazingly resembles a stockier version of INXS’ original frontman, Michael Hutchence, (who seethed with sexual charisma). Also, might I add, Michael Johns on occasion sounds, uncannily, much like Michael Hutchence). This week America most certainlyy got it pathetically wrong. It may not have been his best performance, but certainly did not warrant a one way ticket home!!!!!!!!
